TheArcanist he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Buy and Buy. 1- The original Shardholders shattered Adonalsium to stabilize the universe. 2- Rayse had enough self-control to direct Odium to destroy other Shards; primarily to support his own power and authority, but also to ensure Adonalsium would never be reformed again. 3- Adonalsium was magically inert, entirely unable to act due to equal and opposite pairings of Shards, but the magic of Yolen was a side-effect, radiation if you will, coming off of the God Beyond.
lwd24era he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Buy. Buy. Buy. If nightblood were to shatter a shardblade it would release or destroy the Spren inside. 1
TheArcanist he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Buy. We know that it's possible to actually kill a spren, and not just by breaking the Nahel bond so that they lose sentience. As Odium is the Shard which the Recipient [a dragon] termed "God's Divine Hatred" then there must be a Shard which is "God's Divine Compassion & Mercy".
Swimmingly he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Sell. I think Ruin and Preservation were the only binary opposites.
Lurthemir he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) Buy. It kinda makes sense given the other shards we've seen. I think Nale is being influenced by Odium to kill fledgling Radiants. Edited May 15, 2014 by Lurthemir 1
Swimmingly he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Buy. Totally buy. Surgebinding renders one immune to direct influence by Odium. But as soon as you break your oaths... he pounces. 2
lwd24era he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (Like a cat) Buy. I think Syl and Pattern will meet and fall into Spren love. 2
BreathTaker he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Sell. Syl expressly says she doesn't like Cryptics. Kal will fall in love with a Dustbringer.
TheArcanist he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) Sell. The most likely Dustbringer at the moment is Adolin, so that would turn out badly. Only Bondsmiths can make new sets of Shardplate Edited May 15, 2014 by TheArcanist 1
lwd24era he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) (nah) Sell. Kaladin will obtain shardplate. Edited May 15, 2014 by lwd24era 1
Lurthemir he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Buy, why wouldn't he. Shardpools are the way Hoid travels between worlds.
TheArcanist he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) Buy. It's the current best explanation. Dalinar will have to make a horrific decision after it comes out that Adolin murdered Sadeas, because it will. Edited May 15, 2014 by TheArcanist
BreathTaker he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) Tentativley buy, because it makes some kind of sense. WoA Spoiler. That would be how Hoid found the Lerasium without opening the Entrance to the Well. Hey guys if I read correctly lwd24era hasn't read WoR yet so I think maybe some tags might be necessary... maybe. If you don't mind being Spoiled lwd, let us know. Ol' Iron Eyes will be a world hopper edit: did I just ninja and then get ninja'd? Edited May 15, 2014 by BreathTaker
Swimmingly he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 buy. Hoid is insane in a few ways, and keeps it under control with feruchemy.
lwd24era he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Buy. Cuz awesome It's chill friends, I don't mind spoilers. Hoid may obtain a spren
TheArcanist he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) Buy. But if he's crazy, it's crazy like a fox. Sell. From the looks of the Ars Arcanum, Surgebinding is fairly similar to Yolish magic, so Hoid probably already has something that looks a lot like Surgebinding. We'll find out about jury-rigging magic systems thanks to world hoppers in Stones Unhallowed. Edited May 15, 2014 by TheArcanist
Lurthemir he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Buy. If I remember correctly Hoid can Lightweave. Buy. We'll learn how to access the cognitive realm with Allomancy in SoS.
TheArcanist he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 It's Yolish Lightweaving. The Ars Arcanum author mentions that Rosharan Lightweaving is effectively the same. Sell. We'll find out about the new, true-breeding Koloss in Shadows of Self.
lwd24era he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Buy. Hoid will eventually "collect" almost all the magic systems seen so far.
TheArcanist he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Buy. As of WoR we've met at least one member of a non-human Yolish race.
Swimmingly he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 buy, with emphasis on the "almost". I don't think he's going to go for Surgebinding, for instance, because it comes with a sentient, reliant, being. The sickness-based powers would be a pain to maintain, unless you could use Feruchemical gold to work something out. Selish magics are very limited by area and require a lot of study even if you have the right Spiritual aspects. I can see him maybe learning the basics of those, but not becoming a master. When Cosmerians die, their personality, physical memory, minds, essential self, etc. all split off into separate things.
TheArcanist he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Hesitantly Buy. I'm not too sure about how one would separate out all these different things into either Spiritual or Cognitive aspects. There's more than one copy of the book Marasi was given at the end of AoL and the people kidnapping Allomancers for breeding have one.
Swimmingly he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 sell. it sounds like it was written before the printing press, and it's a journal. In fact, I think it's Spook's Journal, from his hemalurgical experiments after Harmony's ascension.
TheArcanist he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 That's true. At some point in the near future, we'll find out what an Inquisitor's kids are like.
BreathTaker he/him Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Buy, little a-holes out of game: Does Shadesmar remind anyone heavily of Tel'aran'rhiod? Yolish Dragons are the original Lightweavers.
