Eerongal
Nothing witty here, just enjoy the best excuse to eat some pie!
Chaos
Or a good excuse to teach your friends about irrational numbers.
Eerongal
Well, yes, there is that, however eating pie is the better way of celebration because it involves pie.
KChan
The DJ on the radio today googled an explanation of what Pi actually is. Then laughed about how geeks everywhere loved her right then, and then said, "for the rest of us, Poptarts are pi squared." I lol'd, even though poptarts are rectangles. Silus - Shard of Flame
Argh! I missed it! Need to remind mom to make pie tomorrow.
Chaos
My brother reminded me that we should not be celebrating pi day. We should be celebrating 2*pi day. That number is called tau (apparently). Pi never appears by itself. It's always in factors of 2pi. Circumference = 2pi*r. That's c = pi*d, and no one uses diameter. If you've taken any physics, you know everything is in factors of 2pi. In quantum mechanics, 2pi happens so often that physicists freaking took a constant h and made a new constant which was h/2pi. There's really only one formula you know that has just pi in it, and that's Area = pi*r^2. But if you know physics, you know formulas with quadratics have a factor of 1/2, like kinetic energy and such. So A = 1/2tau*r^2 makes perfect sense. Pi sucks. That is all for now, haha. KChan
There's a reason I ask you not to talk about math when I'm tired. Does this mean I have to be afraid to check the forums before bed now too? Thanks a lot, Eric.

KChan
Yes. Very much so, and I'll thank you not to give me a headache right before bed, you rapscallion, you.

That is all for now, haha. area of a circle involves pi without a 2. volume involves 4/3*pi. and plenty of integrals involve just pi from calculus. so does the efficient infinite series. I'm sure there's probably others, but im too lazy to google it right now.
