I just had the coolest light-bulb moment reading the last Rainmaker post: Broadcast is making hourly broadcasts from his station right?

Maybe one day Iconoclast can pay him a visit during one of these and co-opt the station for his own message?

Random question: If one of Mommy's children started pulling away from her, how would she react? Are they capable of pulling away from her?

Actually, Mommy is a bit deluded, herself. She regularly gives away her children before they turn thirteen. If they tried to run away from her beforehand...well, with her influence over them it would be very difficult for them to run away, but if they did, she would either devote everything to finding them, or replace them tenfold.

Name: I don't have one that fits yet

Gender: Female

Primary: Can create three different types of gels; one that hardens on impact with a solid, one ballistic gel, and one that has some resistance to fire. She can produce about 8 liters of gel per second.

Secondary: Manipulation of the gels, she can manipulate only one type of gel at a time, and a maximum of 500 liters of it.

Passive: When targeted by a projectile, ballistic gel is unconsciously formed around her, protecting her from impact. She cannot breathe when she is protected like this.

Her corruption manifest itself in a haughtiness and self-centered manner where she will thoughtlessly kill any vanilla who gets in her way.

Weakness: When she was young, she was almost killed in an auto accident, and her weakness is approaching red cars, though approaching cars of any kind within 50 feet will trigger her weakness.

Does that solid gel just stay solid or does it hared on impact and gets jeallanous again once the pressure goes away? Also how far are we talking about her control over the gel, like forming tendrils with it or just plain levetating it and crushing someone with 500 liters of solid gel stuff?

Did you ever watch that episode of BDZ abridged where they introduce Cell?

Depends on whether they were working toward a common goal, or if they were in competition with each other. If they were working together, Khione would admire the firm hand with which Rainmaker rules her city, and think using Euphoria to keep her people happy with their lot was very clever. She'd find it easier to attribute the riots to external forces and not hold Rainmaker responsible. If they were competing, or things between them turned sour, Khione would find her annoying, call her a "paper tigress" behind her back, and blame the riots on her inability or unwillingness to punish wrongdoing where she saw it.

You know what, to keep the Khione Q&A running, what would she think of Lucentia and does she have any kind of family still around?

She would admire Lucentia's building a kingdom of her own, and would think her "diamond gardens" were a nice touch in the strike-fear-into-the-hearts-of-commoners department. Having relatively few Epics under her command, Khione wouldn't fault Lucentia for working with oddballs like the Financier or laid-back showmen like the Metal; she'd find them annoying, but would reason that Lucentia had to take what she could get, and would admit that their powers were storming useful.

When it came to the complaining, however….

This is not to say Khione doesn't complain, because she does. Frequently, and often to a subject she is punishing for some infraction. She would just tend to see Lucentia's complaining as unwarranted, and hers as justified.

As for family, no. She doesn't have any family nearby.

One issue I have though with you being in Corvallis with that weakness, is that Corvallis has cars quite commonly. We haven't exactly established HOW common they are for people, but they exist and are relatively common for Epics, and government and law enforcement figures and such.

So her weakness would be triggered pretty commonly I would think.

Okay, I might make it so that it is only triggered by red cars within 25 feet coming directly at her. Or, conversely, I could make her weakness claustrophobia due to an elevator accident. Which one sounds best?

Also, I forgot to mention that she can manipulate the color of her gel, and occasionally makes it clear and uses it to fake a levitation ability.

Wouldn't the gel still reflect light, though? And it would still be solid, correct?

The gel would be solid, but would not necessarily reflect light, as its reflective properties are within her manipulation. I was thinking that she would support herself on a pillar of transparent gel, with constructs waving around to keep anyone from getting close enough to hit the column.

Seems like that might be more trouble than it's worth, though others might disagree.

I thought that in the typical paranoid fashion of epics, she might like for her enemies to come prepared to fight a flight epic, only to realize that there isn't one there. For example, air manipulators are very useful against epics with flight powers, but against her, they really wouldn't be terribly useful.

What would be the advantages of that? I'm thinking her powers are already useful enough as-is, and unless goading other Epics into fights is part of her MO, faking a flight power seems a little superfluous to me. Plus, there's already a flight Epic in Corvallis, so she might see through the ruse.

Okay, good point. I'll keep the color manipulation, but she'll use it more for stealth attacks. She may still use gel for fast travel though, as it would help her circumvent her weakness. (Whichever one I decide to use.) Here, have an upvote.

red cars within 25 feet are definitely easier to avoid. Its up to you.

Honestly, I like cars as a weakness.  I think it gives you lots of opportunities to try to avoid said weakness, and to hide it from other epics, which would give your character some good obstacles to over come right from the beginning.

Blaze, would you like to post again before I move things forward with Rainmaker?  I'm thinking we can finish our present conversation, and then have Gunsmoke interrupt it.  I'll have Rainmaker reacting to Cornucopia (and Buttercup and Blossom if you post), and then to Gunsmoke's attack.  Sound good?

Okay, so I've thought a little more about my meta copy-cat reincarnation epic, and here's what I'm thinking.  I'm using the "she/her" pronouns, because she's a she for some reason in my head, but I reserve the right to change my mind.

Powers:

Adaptive Reincarnation - When killed by a vanilla, this epic obtains all of the skills, knowledge and abilities of the person who killed her.  While she will reincarnate from accidental deaths not involving people, she will not receive any added bonuses, but if she can somehow involve or implicate another person in her death (walking into their line of fire, crashing into the oncoming vehicle they are driving, starting a fight with them that ends with her falling off the edge), she can still copy their skills, knowledge and abilities, even if they did not kill her intentionally.  OPTIONAL - any vanilla who kills her (accidentally or purposefully) dies when she reincarnates (this might be overpowered, but I like the idea of her killer dying in her place when she reincarnates).  I think this would be fun, because when she comes back she would have a lot of sympathy for the person who just caused her death, since she would understand them intrinsically when she gains their skills, knowledge and abilities.  My intention is for this ability to stack, so she would gain more and more skills and talents with each death.

When killed by an epic, the power works a little differently.  When killed by an epic, she will reincarnate with the power that was used to kill her.  This version of the power is not stackable, and will reset with each death.  In the event she has a power, and then is not killed by an epic, she will lose the power she had.  If I include the optional bit about the killer's death upon her reincarnation, this bit will NOT apply to epics.  When she takes on an epic's power, bits of their persona will creep in, as she is corrupted in the way that THEY would be corrupted in.

So basically, she will gain more and more skills, talents, and knowledge with each death, which will begin muddling her identity (to compare to Emperor's Soul, it would be like she had layered many different soul stamps over one another.  Then, on top of this, she would also be trying to get killed by powerful epics so she could acquire their powers.  Once she has a good power, she tries hard to hold on to it by not dying.

Anyways, it's definitely still a work in progress, so let me know what you think.  Since I'm still not sure about a lot of it (or about the character in general) I am VERY open to critique.

EDIT:  You guys, I just thought of the best, most annoying epic ever (even more so than Lucentia at her whiniest!)

Name: Babaji

Powers:

Spam:  Babaji can immediately override another persons train of thought with the thought of buying love potions.  The person is not compelled to buy said love potions, and gains no added knowledge of love potions.  Indeed, most who fall victim to Babaji's power begin to feel a strong aversion to the very idea of love potions.  It is impossible to resist Babaji's power; if it is used against a person, vanilla or epic, they will think about the concept of purchasing a love potion, no matter what their mental state is at the time.

Reincarnation: As you might expect, Babaji's constant use of power often causes Babaji to be killed.   When killed, Babaji will reincarnate instantly at the nearest computer.

How about this? I keep the red car within 25 feet approaching, as her weakness, but any car coming directly at her within 25 feet triggers her weakness to a lesser degree: say one tenth of her previous powers.

The solid gel becomes gelatinous again after the pressure is gone. As for control, I was thinking of something similar to Nightwielder's.

Looks good to me, some very interesting potential dynamics like ongoing and pretty powerful corruption mixed with empathy for Vanillas due to growing memories from them, a reincarnator with potentially a lot of incentive not to die if she's got a really good power.

Though I feel compelled to point out that if Babaji was introduced to this game, all plots would stall as every single character sought to kill the Lord of Spambots once and for all.:P

There is that, maybe once we're done with a town and we want to make absolutely sure everyone has a motive for destroying it we can introduce Babaji there? :P

Enemies become allies, allies become friends, and all faction wars vanish just long enough to take Babaji down, even if the town goes with him. Imagine it! Sam and Altermind fighting side by side with snark and illusions! Lightwards and Remington, sharing ammo! Nighthound….

…wait. Never mind. Skip the whole war idea. What say we just sacrifice Nighthound to Babaji.

Given how different Nightwielder's shadows are from gel that means relatively little.

I like the part where they get killed but you might want to pick someone else to make the cage.
