Introduction a la Alvom

Greetings fellow Sanderfans,

I'll admit I've been perusing this website for some time now, and on a whim finally decided to register and interact with the community. I won't bother mentioning my real name as to not confuse anyone, so you can refer to me as Alvom, or Al for short (assuming there's no other Al's wandering about). A little bit about myself; I grew up in a small town in Connecticut, though I have been living overseas for nearly three years now. I was in Japan for the first two, and now I'm in southern Africa (I'm based out of Joburg but currently am working in a bordering country (I won't say where for operational security). I still have ~9 months to spend here until I move on to my next continent (aiming for South America; preferably Lima, Peru), but because of my profession's nature I could go absolutely anywhere.

I'm addicted to becoming immersed in cultures that are vastly different than the US' because of how eye opening, and occasionally humbling, it can be. From an aspiring novelists perspective I think it is much better to physical see and experience the diverse cultures of Earth to better aid in worldbuilding for my own stories. Around this time last year was when I came upon Way of Kings. Needless to say it was love at first sight, and since then I have read Words of Radiance, the (1st) Mistborn Trilogy, Elantris, Warbraker, Sixth of the Dusk, the Emperor's Soul, Steelheart, Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell and Perfect State, in that order, with multiple rereads of my favorites inbetween. I am very eager for the next installment of Stormlight Archive, as it is my favorite fantasy world / series that I have read thus far. I am a passionate reader and usually finish a new book every week, though of all the authors I follow, Mr. Sanderson is at the very top.

Anyway, I look forward to getting to know, and speculating along with, all of you. I apologize in advance for the length of this introduction.

Did you know that there is someone here by the name of Alvron?

And welcome! I hope to see you in Sanderson Elimination, a sub forum under role-playing. Mid-range game 8'will be starting up pretty soon, once quick-fix game 9 is over. Sorry to overwhelm you with a list of terms, but it is very fun.

Welcome Al.  I tend to be known as Alv and I very rarely post outside of Sanderson Elimination so I doubt there will be too much of a mix up.

I do however echo Phatt, SE is a fun way to get to know some other forum members.  We are always looking for more players and would love to kill see you there.

@phattemer: No, I was not aware of Alvron; he's the first person I've heard of with a handle so close to my own haha. I started roleplaying when I was thirteen and that became my primary hobby for many years, along with reading, so I will for sure look into Sanderson Elimination and hopefully participate! Will review the rules and everything as soon as I get the chance.

@Alvron: Thanks Alv. I hope if I participate it won't cause significant confusion. I think our profile pictures being so drastically different will help to aleviate any potential mix ups.

@Kipper: I value my life (and by extension, the life of my characters, since seeded within each one of them is a Sliver of myself) so I look forward to trying very hard for you to not kill me. Also, that depends entirely on the type of cookie.

@The Potato: Maybe I can use it to attract a Cryptic, then.

If you enjoy Roleplay, then I'd suggest that you check out the Social Groups, Clans, and Guilds forums. Also, I'd hate to start recruiting so soon, but The Knights Awkward would be glad to welcome you... ya know, if you want. Of course, there are other factions, so keep an open mind. P.S. The cookies around here tend to be spiked, so do with that what you will.

The cookie is whatever you want it to be. The bakery of the Dark Alley has many good options, many nutritious options. Like a good ol' gooey, warm, choco chip cookie? Sure. Want kale chips substituted for the chocolate? By all means. We have a superfood cookie option for you. Oatmeal, peanut butter, zinc, sugar? Check, check, and check. Just choose your pick and it will be delivered.

@phattemer: Is there already information available regarding this MRG8? If so, where can I find it?

@Amrynn: I will certainly look into it; from what little I've already seen of the Knights Awkward, it seems like it may be a fine fit for me.

@Kipper: The gentleman in me feels obliged to accept, however upon perusing these fine forums it seems that these cookies may be a trap, so it goes without saying I'm a tad bit aprehensive...
