There are 16 shards and allomantic metals, but that's also the amount of letters in Brandon's name.

Is this the origin of 16?

Clearly he misnamed Preservation and Cultivation. The whole -vation is not working out for him. Now, if they were Sustenance and Refinement instead...

Shards exist in all three realms. Preservation's power (or body, since the two are interchangeable for Shards) even comes in multiple states - gaseous (the mists), liquid (the Well), and solid (lerasium). If Adonalsium worked the same way, it's possible that some of its power manifested physically. As for whether it would be burnable... I doubt it. Burning metals is an ability that comes from Preservation, a piece of Adonalsium - using it to access the power of the whole seems unlikely to me. It's like... it's like taking a piece of a jigsaw puzzle and seeing in it a picture of the entire puzzle.

How does one burn a nonphysical deity? O_O

It's not non-physical (in every realm, at least). It can't be when you can pick up the pieces of it's body after it shattered.

When I wrote that I was thinking more about how most Shards we've seen don't really take coherent form all that often, and less about the realmatics >_<

There's like, Shardpools, god metal (which lack consciousness and seem to be disconnected, else Ruin would've found the cache a lot faster I reckon), the Mist . . . um, yeah.

I doubt Adonalsium just sits there letting people burn him(?). He's probably busy worldhopping, busy investing planets, creating life, what have you.

It was a joke reply to a joke question anyway.
