Steel he/him
What if Adonalsium was aware, at the time of its destruction, that there were sixteen people present, and consciously broke into sixteen pieces? Or, what if his destroyer was able to calculate the number of shards it would break into? It seems like kind of a coincidence how Adonalsium broke into the exact amount of shards as people present. Although I may be extremely wrong, and the people who got the shards were just faster than the others present. It's just a theory... A game theory... natc
Well, I recall Hoid being there, so that's 17+ people.
The Sovereign
From WoB: Interview: Nov 16th, 2013 Steelheart Signing Report - askthepaperclip (Verbatim) askthepaperclip If Adonalsium were to shatter in a parallel universe, would it divide into the same 16 intents? Brandon Sanderson Um...it...Adonalsium could have been shattered in other ways.askthepaperclipWas there a force determining which way it shattered?Brandon SandersonYes! From this I would say something, whether it was Adonalsium itself or an external force, forced it to shatter into 16 shards so no, I would not call it a coincidence but rather something preconceived. Well, I recall Hoid being there, so that's 17+ people. Have we had confirmation that all 16 shard holders were actually present for the shattering? I'm looking through the WoB but am only seening that Hoid was definitely there. Edited July 21, 2015 by Iron Eyes
Sol Invictus he/him
Maybe Adonalsium Shattering the way he/she/it did was actually performed by the good guys, to control the destruction the Shattering was going to unleash. We know Adonalsium had an "enemy" and that a "weapon" of some sort, an anti-Adonalsium weapon, had been designed. Maybe by Shattering Adonalsium and splitting up the resultant Shards, the Shardholders prevented Adonalsium's complete destruction?
