Joe ST
So, I know we cant simply copy info from other sources, but are we allowed to link to pages over at places like stormlightarchive.wikia etc? Thanks Joe
Chaos
Like as references or as wiki links? I'd prefer keeping the wiki links internal. References could link there, too. I need to talk with the Stormblessed people if we can set up some sort of direct content-sharing between our two wikis in that regard, because that'd make things a lot more straightforward.
SOM1else
they only specialize in the Stormlight Archive right? If so I assume that is all that there would be in their wiki. would it be possible to have it so we combine wikis with them by when they edit a page about the stormlight archive it posts to there wiki and our wiki at the same time and when we edit a page it edits or creates a new page on thier's to. that way we get them on one side specializing in SA and us on the other side being a Jack of All Trades when it comes to the cosmere. I have no idea if it would be even possible but it is somthing to consider, or not cause it might be insanly complicated.

And that would be complicated as well since we may categorize things differently. Even if it was possible, it'd screw things up on both ends. At best, we'd have to manually move content over, but I think if we work together that would be awesome. Stormblessed and 17th Shard have the two main wikis. Sure, there are some other lesser wikis, but I'm pretty sure we've already surpassed them in content. But it'd be nice to have a good working relationship with Stormblessed.
Eerongal
I don't see why it should be a big deal, since we're basically listing facts about the books. Facts are facts, regardless of who wrote them down. If we work it out to where we share (steal) wikis from each other, then at least we'll have consistency among sources on the interwebs.
Joe ST
yeah content sharing would be nice to set up, and it might be possible to set up direct-interwiki linking? rather than just references. and its quite a big deal from a technical standpoint, even with auto-equalizing bots it'd probably be quite difficult.

I'd still prefer to keep that sort of stuff in house, just sharing content. I don't see why it should be a big deal, since we're basically listing facts about the books. I agree, I don't think it's going to be tough to persuade.
Joe ST
I agree, I don't think it's going to be tough to persuade. At least there's no politics between the places, that always screws things up... its a good thing to do this early too, rather than years after startup.Joe
