Kykeon Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) Copied from Westeros.org Le'ts see, it has Ultra sharp swords that get summoned from beyond 60 feet tall monsters Gravity defying (literally!) martial arts Magical exo-skeletons that create sparkly effects when attacked and create Glowing mist that streams from people's skins and mouths A cute pixie Flashy hand devices so what's not to like? In addition, it would cost a lot less than a live-action series, which is an important factor when dealing with such a rich and detailed Universe, not to mention the length and number of the novels yet to come. What do you think? Edited October 16, 2012 by Kykeon
CrazyRioter she/her Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Not to mention weird eye colours.
Kykeon Posted February 8, 2011 Author Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) Not to mention weird eye colours. This, as well as the vain patterns of the tribes Sigzil visited with Hoid and the skin of the Parshmen. Am I the only one who got reminded of the "Wrath of the Lich King" intro video when Stormlight was described for the first time? Edited October 16, 2012 by Kykeon
CrazyRioter she/her Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 It also occurs to me that the "huge anime eyes" artstyle would be thematically perfect for TSA, given the emphasis the culture puts on eye colour. And if everything was animated, all the glowing pixely spren wouldn't look as weird and out of place, which would make it more visually appealing.
Eerongal he/him Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I dunno. Not to be a negative nelly here, but i don't honestly seeing it working out quite right as an anime. If i see it as anything animated, i see it as more of a Heavy Metal/Disney (like beauty and beast style, not like funky-cutesy-animal-style) style animation, which admittedly is similar in looks to anime, but also a bit different.
Kykeon Posted February 8, 2011 Author Posted February 8, 2011 Hey Erongal. What do you mean with "Heavy Metal" style in this context?
Eerongal he/him Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Hey Erongal. What do you mean with "Heavy Metal" in this context? As in the movie from the 70's/80's. Specifically, the last sequence of the movie where the loc-nar gets defeated (since its like a bunch of mini-stories all in one). Or maybe i should say the movie Fire and Ice. That's another good example of how i would picture it.
Silus - Shard of Flame he/him Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Now that you mention it, an anime would be a better choice over a movie. The thing I like about anime versus normal tv is that an anime (or some anime, anyway) goes for the length of the story as it is meant to be told, not being pressed for more content simply for the sake of it. Not that an SA anime would run out of content within even a decade or so by any stretch of the imagination, but just something to consider. 1
ZeldaDad he/him Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 (edited) I could see it. It would solve the length issue and would accomidate very well for the visual elements. As for the actual story, I think it would leach some of its seriousness. However, if done right it could be good. Some animes are very serious and do it well (e.i. Death Note). One would need to go for a "serious" drawing style, like the one used in works such as Ergo Proxy... @Erongal: Thanks.
