Brandon on his ama recently answered a question that asked if a returned could reclaim breath they had used to awaken something before they had died.

Brandon said yes, because the returned would still have enough of the same Identity.

Really interesting stuff, I wonder if this is kind of how metal minds can only be tapped if you were the person to store it and it's is kind of "bonded" to you specific identity. I wonder if an aluminum metal mind can somehow be used to steal other metal minds.

Yes. He has enough of his original Identity, and the spiritual connection would remain.

 

Regarding Aluminum Feruchemy, we know already from the Mistborn Adventure Game that some kind of manipulation of Feruchemical Aluminium would allow the "sharing" (and/or stealing) of attributes from metalminds; and it's been suggested that Breath-ownership and Feruchemical attribute-ownership work under similar principles.
