the_archduke Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 (edited) Spoilers for Way of Kings and MIstborn: The Final Empire If Szeth were transmigrated somehow to Luthadel and ordered to kill the Lord Ruler:Is there any way for him to recharge Stormlight? WOB would be nice.Assuming he could recharge, does he have a chance?Assume the Lord Ruler a day before Vin killed him and Szeth the day Taravangian "recruited" him Edited July 8, 2015 by the_archduke
Guest Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 There are several WoB's saying it's possible to substitute 1 form of Investiture for another, none specifically about getting Stormlight on Scadrial. If TLR recognized Szeth's sword for what it is, Szeth would be dead before he could draw in a single Sphere's worth of Stormlight. Compounded Speed, Mental Speed, and Health, combined with Pewter strength, and Szeth would be dead to TLR's bare hands... assuming he didn't just grab Szeth's Blade and use that. If TLR didn't recognize anything, Szeth could have a chance. A swing with what TLR thinks is a regular sword could take off an arm, separating him from one or more Metalminds, and then things get interesting.
Ookla the Absent Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I think somewhere it says that you can repair shardblade damage with Feruchemy, but it requires a lot because you are fixing your spirit and/instead of your body. Can't find the reference yet.
Guest Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 You definitely can heal Shardblade damage with pretty much any Investiture-based healing.
Renarin_Kholin he/him Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 (edited) would it though? couldn't TLR's Goldminds heal the arm? just going off the fact that Kal could heal his arm with stormlight and all the magic systems are based around similar things... Edit... Ninja'd... double-y Edited July 8, 2015 by Renarin_Kholin
Guest Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 KURKISTAN () Does a limb that has been "severed" by a Shardblade have any Hemalurgic bindpoints? If the same limb was then cut off more conventionally, would a Bloodmaker ferring be able to grow it back? BRANDON SANDERSON A severed Shardblade limb needs repair to the soul before it would function again. A Bloodmaker would be able to heal it without needing to grow it back. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=979#166
VindicationKnight he/him Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Assuming Rashek is doing anything to defend himself, he's to fast and to precog-ey for Szeth to hit, and he can kill Szeth even by slapping him so long as he does so to the head. It's also not impossible he could Pull on his blade depending on how amped his Allomancy gets, though I wouldn't bet his life on it. Szeth's chances of a stealth attack are also low, he's to bright and glowey and he lacks any particular subtlety, he never had much need for it. Whilst Rashek didn't go all out against Vin she was a Mistborn, something he knew wasn't a threat to him (without Shard help anyway), with Szeth it's immediately obvious that something is off about him and his Blade so I doubt that he's going to be careless.
natc Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Even without the visible glowing, you'd think with that much stormlight being commanded at once his bronze senses would pick up something by now. 1
Renarin_Kholin he/him Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 hey random slightly off top Q... can you steelpush/ironpull a shard blade? Because as far as i can tell they are made entirely of spren stuff/honor/cultivation...

Because as far as i can tell they are made entirely of spren stuff/honor/cultivation... They'd certainly be difficult to push/pull on, I suspect it would differ between living and dead Blades but I think WoB was that it would be difficult but not impossible.
Guest Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 hey random slightly off top Q... can you steelpush/ironpull a shard blade? Because as far as i can tell they are made entirely of spren stuff/honor/cultivation... As far as I can tell, Shardblade/Shardplate is made from "normal" metal reinforced with a TON of Investiture. Push/Pull is confirmed possible, if you've got enough power. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=1047#12 HEROWANNABE How about a metalmind? A feruchemy metalmind that is "full." BRANDON SANDERSON That is going to be middle of the realm. Generally easier than, for instance, a shardblade, which is going to be very hard. AARADEL But a shardblade isn’t actual metal. Ish? BRANDON SANDERSON Ish. Is Lerasium a metal? Yeah. HEROWANNABE So would that be the same for Shardplate, too? BRANDON SANDERSON Shardplate and blade are very hard. Blade is probably going to be harder. [...] HEROWANNABE Halfshard? Like a halfshard shield? BRANDON SANDERSON Halfshard shield is going to be in moderate. HEROWANNABE Nightblood? I imagine is going to be very difficult. BRANDON SANDERSON Very hard.
