TheOneKEA
Something just occurred to me regarding the Seons on Sel that were injured by the Reod: - Is it possible to add a chasm line to the Aon inside of an injured Seon? - Do any of the Elantrians as of the time of The Emperor's Soul know how to do this? - Does doing so affect the Seon's ability to bond with humans that are not affected by the Shaod? Kurkistan he/him
I don't think Seon's are actually negatively affected by the chasm unless their owner's get Reod'ed. Raodin's goes back to normal once he goes full Elantrian, and there's no comment in general that Seons had been changed by the initial appearance of the chasm. TheOneKEA
I don't think Seon's are actually negatively affected by the chasm unless their owner's get Reod'ed. Raodin's goes back to normal once he goes full Elantrian, and there's no comment in general that Seons had been changed by the initial appearance of the chasm. That's why I asked about the injured Seons whose owners were affected by the Reod, not the uninjured ones like Ashe. It seems logical that adding the chasm line to the injured Seons would repair them and allow them to regain their sanity.
Kurkistan he/him
Ah, my mistake. I apologize for not reading your post carefully enough. You are still wrong, though Link ZAS678Why do Seons become broken when their person is taken by the Shaod?BRANDON SANDERSONA Seon has a Spiritual Connection with their user. When the Shaod takes the user, it messes up the spiritual nature of the user, and it really messes up the nature of the Seon. So the user is the root cause of Seons' screwiness, meaning that tweaks on the Seon's end probably wouldn't help.
TheOneKEA
Argh. There goes my theory :-( It still makes me wonder if there is any way to fix an injured Seon and allow it to function again.
Windrunner he/him
It is important to not though that the Seons do have problems still. The current ones can no longer "actualize" their Aon to create a magical effect. Due to the absence of the Chasm line, it would not work as it should. So, there would be some use to adding the Chasm line. I just don't know if it would be possible. I see the Aon as being an essentially immutable part of who they are, possibly having a great effect on their Cognitive Aspect. I don't think that would be easy to change. Actually, my impression is that they never could actualize their aon, The way I read the quote (below) is that the seons would never want to actualize their aon and so the chasm doesn't affect them directly. It only affects their spiritual connection to their bonded Elantrian. Quote 3. Why aren't Seons affected by the lack of a chasm line in their Aon? If they tried to actualize their Aon, it would have an undesirable result. In addition, the chasm broke their bond to the humans they were tied to, and you can see the result of that. So they were affected.
Shardlet he/him
Based on the short story http://brandonsanderson.com/library/32/Elantris-The-Hope-of-Elantris'>"The Hope of Elantris", it appears that the Seons which were bonded to the New Elantrians when the Shaod took them are now healed and, if their bondee is still alive, their bond is restored. Seons whose bondee was killed were distributed to others for a new bond to be formed. edit: grammar Edited June 25, 2013 by Shardlet
