For a Misting i'm not sure, maybe Lurcher to jump around. But the very best thing would be to be a Firesoul, goodbye sweeting in summer and trembling in winter, just fill or tap the brassmind as needed.

Though, being a Subsumer would also be handy. I hate leaving leftovers after a meal and leaving the table hungry, that would solve both problems.

Didn't think Nicrobursting could help with Feruchemy.

Ooh, now there's an idea - I wonder if a Nicro can assist an Allomantically burned Feruchemic charge (so, if for example a Nicro was to pump Miles' Goldminds as he burns them for compounding). Compounding already adds a huge boost by getting an extra infusion of power to the original Feruchemical charge, so if you could Nicroburst it too (or get Duralumin-spiked).... ye gods...

Someone's asked about duralumin before with compounding, but I'm not sure how to interpret the response.

1) What would happen if a person were to burn a metal that was feruchemically charged using allomancy?

A: The metal used in allomancy is like a key or a doorway to the power that Allomancy actually uses. The metal acts as a filter, much as the Aons in Elantris do, to determine what the power actually does. However, if the metal is feruchemically charged, then it will basically become a super-burst of feruchemical power with no allomantic effect. The feruchemical charge acts as a filter as well as the metal, and changes what the power does. in this case, say you were burning steel, you would just be massively speedy for a second, and wouldn't actually have the ability to push on anything allomantically. Hope that answered the question. I get the concept, so if you need me to explain it differently, let me know and i'll try. Oh, the other thing I forgot is that this concept only works if it's a metal that you charged yourself. If it's a metal someone else charged, it would just work like regular allomancy, and the feruchemical charge would just cease to exist.

2) If someone aluminum or duralumin burned the feruchemically charged metals, what would happen?

A: Basically the same thing as above, except with aluminum. Aluminum, they would just go away.

Given that the burst of feruchemical power is apparently way beyond what it's normally supposed to be, it might be that it's automatically consumed at a crazy rate (like burning aluminum).

You do realize the very same post you quoted talked about compounding as a prior to the nicroburst? And then you come up with an "idea" which was in fact mine, and is presented in the quoted post you replied to...

The problem is that compounding means both 'use a lot of feruchemical power all at once' and 'burn a feruchemical charge allomantically'.

Your phrasing definitely suggested the former.

Sorry Kroen, that was me misinterpreting your phrasing. As Phantom notes above, compounding has (annoyingly) more than one meaning with regards to metallic arts. I was referring to Twinborn compounding, I thought you were referring to tapping a metalmind faster for increased effect. No idea-stealing intended.

I didn't mean to offend, even though it might have sounded like this. Either way, it's the first I'm hearing the terminology "compounding" in regards to anything other than Twinborn compounding. If it has other uses, they really need to stop as it leads to confusion.

Brandon uses it both ways.  There have been several alternative words proposed for 'using a lot of feruchemy at once' but none of them has been particularly good/catchy.

How about "funneling"?

How about "funneling"?

I think we actually had a several-page thread just trying to settle on an appropriate word for it. Don't expect much immediate success.

The biggest problem is that it's the perfect word in both instances (Wax compounded several hours worth of weight into a single moment). If I could choose, I'd rather find another word for the Miles process. Something referencing the exponential nature of it (since normal feruchemy is never exponential) but we'll just have to cope.

Lol, I read "funneling" and was immediately terrified that this thread would devolve into another "we need a different name for feruchemical compounding". Which failed miserably the first time.
