I'd be interested to learn some more about Mormonism, just for my own curiosity having been educated at school in Hindu/Islam/Judaism/Christianity/Buddhism to a degree, having a Catholic girlfriend and some family and an Anglican upbringing and quite a few friends who are Hindu/Muslim/Jewish but relatively little exposure to Mormons and what they believe (beyond the basic premise of the Book of Mormon and the Saints of America) here in the UK

Well, a good place to start is mormon.org. If you have any specific questions about it, you can PM me or ask on this thread. Just don't Google search; there's some very crazy opponents of the Church around the internet. :P Edited by Mistrunner

If you're interested, I've got a pm with Twi where I've explained the basic ideas of Mormonism. I'll ask her if it's alright to add you to the pm, or I can copy-paste the contents

I'm not the only one anymore!

Not sure how much of the thread you slogged through, but I'm Kemetic.  :)

I thought you were Kaymyth!

I saw that! Are we the only pagans? Really?

If memory serves, there's a Hindu floating around the boards as well.  But that's about it, at least of those of us who've admitted to it.

I'm half Jewish, half UU. I agree with both religions, and also find things I dislike in both. I don't pay much attention to religion.

More head in books than in prayer :P

I thought you were Mormon, for some reason.  I have no idea where or how I got that into my head.

Not really and there are probably more of us in the 14 who selected "others" on the poll  :)

I love pagan beliefs, I just don't hold any faith in them unfortunately. :(
Wish i did.

This is why I love Asatru.  Because we try to be historically accurate.  Trying to rebuild an ancient culture and faith.  Therefore, there's more research and homework than actual "faith".  The humanist qualities appease my doubt.

I must admit that I know little to nothing about it, I know another Kemetic and I've talked to her a bit about it but I don't know anyone who holds Asatru (Asatrics? Asatruists? Not sure on the terminology there :P)

Different pagans take different approaches, really.  Even within a particular pantheon-group you're going to wind up with people taking wildly different paths.  For Kemetics, there's a lot of scholarly research, but also a lot of holes in that research.  Kemetic Orthodoxy is the most organized path for Egyptian pagans, but it's one that I choose not to tread.  I've got my own relationships with my gods, and a lot of what I do is a combination of my own research and a healthy dollop of Unverifiable Personal Gnosis.

I have a good friend who is a devotee of Thor, follows the Norse gods, but doesn't follow the official Asatru path.
