Quiver he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 Naw, that's okay. Just thought I'd throw you a hard question. (We chatted about the favoured weapons on the ninja, and then what magic system would best suit a archer. Then autocorrect and the Catquidition) EDIT: To be fair, this event happened 16 months ago. (I still have the PM - haven't had enough to need to delete stuff. Also, I hoard things...) Yeah, I cleaned out my PM's a while ago... and now I'm regretting it. Archer magic systems? Aside from materialising ammunition at will -F/SN yo!- I wonder if some kind of time-distortion would be helpful, Alloy-style... which is also stealing from that franchise, so... ...Hm. I'll get back to you. 42? 4+2=6 There are 6 letters in my name. A quiver is what an archer carries his arrows in. So the answer is whatever archery-based magic system I end up coming up with.
Kobold King he/him Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 You get to write one episode of My Little Pony. What is it about?
Quiver he/him Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 You get to write one episode of My Little Pony. What is it about? Here's the odd thing. I write a lot of Pony fiction. I analyse the world, themes, and head canon's. I'm working on FiMFiction reviewing Pony fiction now! My point is, i think about MLP a lot. I don't think I'd want to write an episode. It would be easy for me to give an obvious answer, like "Lyra and Bon Bon's wedding", or "A Princess Celestia episode", but that's stuff which is, at best, unlikely to happen... though the fact that season five has had an episode where Discord is the main character (rather than a supporting one) and another focused on the background characters makes me optimistic that an episode focusing on the Princesses might happen next season, at least. But the show does have a pretty fixed format, which I don't know if I'd be able to work in. My personal stories at the moment are a tragedy, a pulp adventure and a comedy, and none feature the Mane Six- because while I like the mane six, it's the fanon and fandom which really sucked me in. That being said, I do actually have a few ideas which might make decent episodes of the show. The first would be the Princess episode I mentioned. I've always wanted to see an episode where Celestia and Luna give the reins of Canterlot to Cadance and Twilight for a day and take a vacation; while Twi and Cadance would have some funny scenes, I'd mostly want to focus on finding out who, exactly, Celestia and Luna are when they aren't working... especially Celestia. Then again, I'm not quite sure of the moral of it... it's mostly because I want more Celestia. Luna multiple episodes, but Twilight's mentor gets zero? Something went wrong somewhere. The other... I would love to see a sequel to the season four episode where Pinkie is "revealed" as a cousin of AJ's. I'm not quite sure what, but I rather like the idea of AJ visiting the Pie family rock farm and volunteering there for a few weeks; after all, it's still farm work, and I imagine her hard working work ethic would help her fit in, even if the family is a little different than she was used to. Though for the moral.. I'd say focus on Pinkie Pie. We've seen her worry about being replaced by Cheese with her friends; this might be a good sequel to that, with someone who "fits" into the family coming in and threatening to replace her. Ending with a re-affirmation of the bonds and importance of family, obviously. 1
Quiver he/him Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 Favorite G.I. Joe character? Oops! Sorry! I didn't realise there was a reply here! Anyway... I don't have one. Time for backstory! See, in the UK, G.I Joe has never really been a thing -or it wasn't while I was growing up anyway. I'm not quite sure wy -probably marketing reasons, or trying to appeal to British kids since G.I. Joe is an obviously American term- but in the UK, the brand was re-named "Action Man". (Or at least was a licensed, UK Version of that brand). Thing is, Action Man kind of spun off into it's own thing during the 90's; there were toys, cartoons, the works, all featuring Action Man fighting his evil arch-nemesis, Professor X. So... I grew up with that. I remember seeing at least one episode of G.I Joe as a kid, and I definitely know of Cobra Commander. I've always been a transformers fan, so my first "Real" exposure to G.I Joe was Cobra Commanders cameo in the third season of the G1 cartoon. ...I did see the "Rise of Cobra" movie, though I'm not sure I liked anyone from that film. I've been considering picking up some of the comics -since I read some of Hasbro's other stuff- but right now, I don't really know anything about the Joe's. Sorry!
Delightful Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 How could you possibly think otherwise than that my life's mission is to purposely mock the unknown-to-me musical preference of my friends?
Voidus Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 What are the odds that either now or in the future you will own a dog that looks like this? 2
Delightful Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 What are the odds that either now or in the future you will own a dog that looks like this? Well they say dogs look like their owners....
Quiver he/him Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 How could you possibly think otherwise than that my life's mission is to purposely mock the unknown-to-me musical preference of my friends? Because I thought you had a soul. What are the odds that either now or in the future you will own a dog that looks like this? Brb, going out to buy a dog and teach myself how to sew a tiny tunic and domino mask. 1
Quiver he/him Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) Favorite MLP episode? ...Huh. Didn't realize I never answered this... Favorite? Hmm. Season Five has brought a LOT of great new episodes, which has kind of upset that listing, actually; I haven't got around to doing a series re-watch and revaluating stuff yet. There's also a difference between "favorite" and "best". I'm going to go for the obvious answer, and say the 100th episode is my favorite, at least at the moment. It really does feel like a huge love letter to the fans and the fandom as a whole, and it's awesome. (Though there are other episodes I would rank as better, or which I would rewatch more often, that one gets some props for the sheer love it exudes) (The Best episode is the one with Cheese Sandwich, by the way) Edited October 16, 2015 by Quiver

(For me it's Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?)
Quiver he/him Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 What about worst? (For me it's Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?) CRANKY. DOODLY. DONKEY. There isn't even any debate on the issue. That is a terrible episode, and the only reason it doesn't get called out on it's terribleness is because it also has THE BEST thing in it right at the start. 'Smile, Smile, Smile' is an amazing song, and rightuflly held up as one of the fandom's anthems! ...But the rest of the episode is terrible. It's twenty minutes of Pinkie Pie tormenting someone who wants to be left alone, humiliating him in front of a group of strangers and destroying his personal possessions. It doesn't even end with her learning that not everyone wnats to be your friend, or that people need personal space sometimes; she get's away with everything. How can the Best Pinkie Pie and the Worst Pinkie Pie both be in the same damned episode?! 1

Quiver he/him Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 At least it didn't contain a terrible, toxic, self destructive lesson like DPDOMS?. I had to double-check just to make sure that we were talking about the same episode. I actually really, really like DPDOMS. (Let me also say beforehoof that I am totally a supporter of the Solar Empire. Celestia is Bestia!) Anyway, I really liked Do Princesses Dream of Magical Sheep, because of the Tantabus. I interpret the Tantabus -and the fact that Luna created it for herself as punishment- as a metaphor for self-harm, and it kinda blew my mind that the show would even think about going to a place like that. I honestly don't see the bad message in it though? I actually found it rather tear-jerking, and enjoyed how that issue was resolved. 1
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Do you feel like the father of ponies and AMAs on the Shard?

And you know what I got out of it? Self harm is nothing but a cute little quirk, and should be treated as such, even when on a nuclear level(potentially hurting many more than just the primary victim). I can't explain my thoughts much more than that, so instead, I'll just point you towards reviews done by Commander Firebrand(aka joshcorcher aka FOB Equestria) and Jerry Peet, both of which do a much better job of explaining this. Quiver he/him Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Do you feel like the father of ponies and AMAs on the Shard? Hahaha, no. Honestly, Oregon are the ones responsible for popularising the pony thing, I think; I just happen to be vocal about my fondness for the show Sane for AMA's. It was everyone else joining that popularised it, not me! So... No special status for me, unfortunatly . You're right, it is a metaphor for self harm. And you know what I got out of it? Hmm, fair enough. I'll check those out... But I disagree that it was presented as a quirk, certainly not cute. The entire episode builds up Luna's guilt and remorse over the Tabtabus' creation, giving an insight into the maelstrom of -sometimes conflicting- emotions that mind set holds. It wasn't treated as a quirk to me, but as a serious problem. It wasn't something that I felt was trivialised in it's portrayal. Was Luna overcoming it simplistic? Perhaps a little, but ultimately I felt it was handled a lot more gracefully than I was expecting. But I'll check out those videos. I love hearing alternate viewpoints, so... 2

Quiver he/him Posted February 3, 2017 Author Posted February 3, 2017 ... Does nearly two years count as necroing? I mean, I didn't want to start a NEW topic when this one is right here, and mostly died due to my own slow response time. Anywya... I'm trying to get a little more active, so... this is a -for all intents and purproses- fresh start! Any questions?
Shqueeves Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 It's only been 16 months, though it might be considered necroing. What's your favorite pokemon design? (Purely based on looks) Favorite entry in the pokedex? Favorite pokemon overall?

What's your favorite pokemon design? (Purely based on looks) Favorite entry in the pokedex? Favorite pokemon overall? I got into Pokemon when it was new, back in the Red-Blue/Gold-Silver era. So... my answers lean heavily into those eras. Based purely on looks... I think Mewtwo has he best design. You look at him, and you instantly know his story. He looks like a pokemon, but he looks wrong. The hands don't look quite right, the way the bulbous tail connects to his body doesn't look quite right, the neck tube thing he has doens' look quite right. He looks like a pokemon, but he doesn't. It's a nice bit of visual storytelling, and I like it. I... never really paid much attention to the Pokedex to be honest. Favorite overall -and this is cheating - is the Eevee line. I love those little guys. When I play Pokemon, I do end up getting attached to certain 'Mons and want to keep them in my team, simply because I've used them for so long... but the Eevee's are Pokemon I go out of my way to get. If you're asking for a particularly Eevee as my favorite though... that's not something I can answer, because they are all pretty great. I have a fondness for Umbreon though.
Kaymyth she/her Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Eh, it's your own thread. I think you're fine. (Maybe I should resurrect my AMA...)
Edgedancer he/him Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 To stay on topic, who's your favourite undead, Quiver?
