<lets out a string of expletives. They had to be deleted.>

You mean I can't curse out everyone? Oh noes, what am I going to do?

:)

Hey, Silus, you can totally skip the smithing scene if you like. I'm just curious about stuff, it doesn't have to happen on screen. A PM or some such of the scene, once you've got an idea of how you want it to happen, would be fine.

Eventually I'll post something I'm tentatively calling "Jay'el's Notebook," his series of observations on the world, monsters, and especially Spheremorph-related items. Think of it as Navani's notebook for Nexus, in-world creation and all.

Comatose, that looks... like I want to play a Bender. I just was never quite sure how to handle it. Though now I'm wondering if i should have JL be a bit more moral to compensate for the two amoral characters we have....

Well, if we go by TV tropes, following the rules of Four Philosophy Ensemble, we get:

The Cynic: Ambro

The Optimist: Eero

The Realist: Jay-el

The Apathetic: River? (more of the different goals aspect than the non-action aspect)

I will send you that PM eventually, Cuaiir, but I do need to get things rolling. Sorry for the delay, guys!

EDIT: Post is up. Comatose, I'm intending for the figure mentioned at the end of the post to be River. If you want to write up a post explaining how you got there, that would be great. I'd say he was contacted in a similar manner to the others, minus the gang abduction, but you go ahead and write it how you want.

I really can't tell if I'm hoping for a fight between the team of Eerongal, Ambrosius and Jay'el and River right now. I think it would be an interesting way to explore our various abilities (especially those of my shiny new Amalgam From), but I don't want us all to end up hating each other.

Since I now apparently have a lot of free time, I'm working hard on the map as well as putting together Jay'el Jay'ournal (I know it's really bad, I like to have fun with my titles).

What kinda of dating system do the people of Nexus use, month/day/year wise? I'm assuming right now that it's fairly similar to earth (7 days a week, 4 weeks a month, 3 months a season, 4 seasons a year), but I'm not sure that's right. What would the months be called, and where would the "zero-point" be? Like how ours originated on the longest night of the year, i guess. are there any special days during the year that we should be aware of? What is the current year, and when/why is the zero-point for that?

I'm probably making you do too much world building, but I'm really getting into this. I also think it's important that Nexus is actually a world, and not just a giant sandbox for us to make forts in.

I entirely agree. I have quite a bit of backstory for this world, though the raw mechanical stuff like a calendar is something I've yet to consider. Though I can build off of what I have to get there.

The calendar is just about identical to the normal one, except that it has a 360 day year rather than a 365 day one, with each month being 30 days long. The month names are the same except for maybe a few minor variations. The current year is 245 CA (Current Age). This relates to a specific event that very little is actually known about, which you can find out about if you dig around.

Questions:

Is the year length equal to the rotation of the planet? (if it is a planet)

Has the year always been that long (or short)? (or was it once n days)

I'm not sure I'm understanding your first question. Are you asking if the length of the year is an even number of days, not a mixed number like the 365 1/4 that ours is? If so then yes, it is equal to the number of days.

It has changed, but only a little.

Just skip it, I hadn't thought the question through and forgot to delete it. Sorry. biggrin.gif

On Ambro's Psychology:

This is why I write the way I do. Deep down on a subconscious level, Ambro has separated his "self" from his actions, to cope with what he has done. That is how he can be so immoral and mean.

When Ambro consciously thinks or speaks, he uses pronouns because the separation only exists on the subconscious level. If Ambro starts speaking in third person, bad things will happen.

Okay. Well, I guess I'll switch back to first person then. I'm sure I can get used to it. Just thought I'd check in case it was an option.

Really, you can use whatever tense or perspective you want. The reason we've been tending toward third person is that I kinda think of us as sitting around a table playing D&D and talk like I would there.

Regarding the latest post in Story: Why, hello there plot device, how are you? I was wondering when you would show up.

@Comatose River wouldn't have actually seen him coming using Bronze. The Shardplate guy burns Copper. He has the Allomantic Reactor Grid with Tin, Pewter, Copper and Bronze. If you could edit that, I would appreciate it.

So, I'm waiting on you guys to make the decision to go in or not before continuing. So I need you to get on that.

Waiting for Eero.

Okay, this is not working. None of you are going because Eero isn't here. Fine, I'll post him going in, I'll let him justify it for his character when he comes back. We're so close to the next part, we can't stop now!

Hehehe, sorry. been busy working on my character for the Eternal Conflux that I forgot to post.

We all kind of sand-bagged ourselves by putting Eero as our leader, and waiting for him. Hopefully we'll hit a point where we can drop that cover and move forward without having to wait on people too much.

As a side note, the land and seas for the updated maps are Silus-approved, and can be found here. With any luck I'll get a city or dungeon done a week, and this will be finished by August.
