Voidus Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Ah cool Can I add to it? Yeah sure, just pick a colour or otherwise note which ideas were yours so people know who to ask for them. Some day I'll get around to updating it to be more current with my private doc but there's so much I'd have to go through and that time can be better spent making more Epics
Blackhoof Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 haha I'm noting lots that became characters haha XD like Impact and MV
Blackhoof Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 also, what happened to what happened in Calamityville? seems like it just stopped with no warning, did you guys run out of inspiration fro the characters or something?
Mailliw73 he/him Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 EDIT: My rep has gone up two tiers since I started posting here...That sort of thing happens around here. have you seen the top Reputation list? also, what happened to what happened in Calamityville? seems like it just stopped with no warning, did you guys run out of inspiration fro the characters or something? It was an October thing and it just kinda died since we didn't really have any main plot or ideas besides be as creepy as possible.
Haelbarde he/him Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 That sort of thing happens around here. have you seen the top Reputation list? Oh, I'm well aware of that list. It just surprises me at how quick it takes effect.
mail-mi he/him Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Just read the latest Timeport post, good job Mail-mi! I'm debating whether or not to reveal an interesting coincidence here or to PM it since it contains potential weakness spoilers. Thanks I'd love a PM, if you don't mind.
Mailliw73 he/him Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Oh, I'm well aware of that list. It just surprises me at how quick it takes effect. We don't waste any time when it comes to taking over the forums promoting the spreading of fantastic ideas. 1
Voidus Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 haha I'm noting lots that became characters haha XD like Impact and MV Well that's what the list's for, most have just become minor Epics from the MEE that got killed off but some have become major characters.
TheSilverDragon he/him Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I need to add mine to theist. Namely Cheesemaster.
Haelbarde he/him Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 So Corvallis seems to be run exclusively by female epics? Or did I skip over/miss some POV's?
Blackhoof Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 So Corvallis seems to be run exclusively by female epics? Or did I skip over/miss some POV's? Men can fulfill any role at all except they cannot be part of the ruling circle, the Queens.
Haelbarde he/him Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Okay. So then, coming up with an epic then. Would probably tend towards being sympathetic to Corvallis. No prime invincibility. Considered something like 'Homing Bee(con)' - involuntarily moves directly towards what they look at, speed being determined by how clearly they can see the object. Can hover/levitate by looking upwards at an object (sky doesn't count). So in effect, they're weightless, and experience a pushing force towards the object they're looking at. When it comes to other objects interacting with it, the same ammount of inertia is needed to overcome as if they were standing on the ground (so they won't go flying if you give them a push. They might 'fall over' if you push hard enough). Thoughts? 2
Blackhoof Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 What a fascinating and trippy power Lots of creative things you could do with that. Does this pulling force occur at all times? Can Bee change how fast/slow he moves? About Corvallis: I'm thinking we should move it back in time a bit, so that it is a few weeks or so behind the other cities. Given the slow pace that we want for the growing chaos, we would perhaps be held back by other, more action-packed threads that move more slowly. For instance, Iconoclast's ghouls aren't going to reach critical mass of chaos-causing for at least a week. Heck, probably the only thing he will do tomorrow is go to a few places and turn some people at each location, to test government response times and such. And the rebellion will need some time to ferment and grow, they don't happen over night. I know we could technically go past the other threads, but I'm not sure how willing we are to do that. Thoughts?
Haelbarde he/him Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Does this pulling force occur at all times? Can Bee change how fast/slow he moves? Yup, at all times. And yes they can control how fast, but only by changing their ability to see an object. So, if they close their eyes, they'll basically hover in place. If they squint, they'll be slow. Eyes wide open they could go a fair pace. Thinking that maybe it also depends on distance - so they go slower as they get closer to said object, but also as they can see it less clearly - would mean there'd be a sweet spot where if you can see a object clearly at some distance (maybe using binoculars or a telescope?) you could travel really quickly, but if it's too far away, or it's obscured by smoke, mist or fog, no speed at all. Fog would be their worst nightmare (well, not literally, but you know what I mean). Possibly could wear a veil or some sorta gauze which they can see through, but not super clearly (and also gives them a nearby object to focus on if need be) {heh - goes crosseyed to stay still maybe?}
Haelbarde he/him Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) Sounds like a good MEE Epic actually. MEE? Edited May 19, 2015 by Haelbarde
Voidus Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Minor Epic Empire, a faction of lower levelled or less combative Epics in Portland (Thought they may eventually branch out)
Blackhoof Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Sounds like a right pain in the chull power to have at times haha I assume he/she always hovers, at least a few inches off of the ground, so that they actually move towards what they are looking at?
Haelbarde he/him Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Sounds like a right pain in the chull power to have at times haha I assume he/she always hovers, at least a few inches off of the ground, so that they actually move towards what they are looking at? Well, yeah. Why walk when you can hover. Also, hovering is just cool and 'epicy'. Also, they'd still feel the pulling/pushing force when on the ground. They'd actually have the advantage of maybe resisting it (hmmm, or maybe they don't?) but who'd want to feel like they're about to get pulled off their feet all the time. And you couldn't even lean to counteract it. You look suddenly to the side - oops you got pulled in a different direction suddenly, and fell on your face, which pulled you to the ground and keeps pushing you into the ground unless you close your eyes.
Voidus Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Perhaps for backstory purposes it's someone with an Autism Spectrum disorder so they have trouble making eye contact.Sounds like an interesting character in any event.
Blackhoof Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 A way he could get around it is by having a camera attachment to a pair of shades that records what he sees and plays it on the inside of the shades, with a 0.001 second lag. That way, he isn't "looking" at any object in particular (since if he watched a video it isn't like he would be pulled towards the objects in the video) but he can still see. Although he might just be pulled towards the shades, although one could argue he isn't "looking" at them, but at the images on the inside of them.
Haelbarde he/him Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 They'd still move towards the shades, but seeing as they're touching him, the force would be basically nothing.
Blackhoof Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I'm sort of picturing him flying around, bouncing off people with a kick or a stab like some giant version of human pinball
Edgedancer he/him Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Great, Brandon answeres questions and I'm asleep. Probably not. He'd be in Hawaii before the first particles of radiation hit him, and I think most of our characters would be smart enough to figure that out. I think it'd be more likely for someone to try hitting Astoria with one to take out the dangerously OP Epics there, or for an invading force to try using a small tactical nuke to crack open the force field surrounding Corvallis. Or use one on Iconoclast. That is a perfectly acceptable response to a threat. Hitting Astoria with a nuke wouldn't really be that smart of a move. All the really troubelsome Epics would survive and then just create even more destruction, because they are forced outside their old habitat. Be it by conquoring a new city or by just roaming. A big explosion is probably the best way to kill him. He usually keeps his pieces close by, so anything that wiped out the city would almost certainly get each and every last bit of him. I don't think we really know enough to assume a "usual" for Obliteration. Yes his save house in Babilar was still in town but that was at least in part so Regalia could give him directions. UPDATE: Brandon answered the children question. And do you guys know what that means for the RP? I found that somewhat surprising, along with the reason for his vagueness. Will we encounter a child Epic in the next book, which I now want to read even more than I did when I started this sentence? Seems to me that either the member of the Coven will have children or we get a happily ever after jump with David and Megan in the future. Okay. So then, coming up with an epic then. Would probably tend towards being sympathetic to Corvallis. No prime invincibility. Considered something like 'Homing Bee(con)' - involuntarily moves directly towards what they look at, speed being determined by how clearly they can see the object. They might 'fall over' if you push hard enough). Thoughts? So what happens if they (are just using someting gender neutral or does he give people the power?) look at something large like a house that isn't really in one specific direction of them or they have more than one object in their sight, both of which is very likely to happen?
