TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Maybe "changed" in the way that they kill/uncorrupt Calamity or something like that and not in the "retcon our characters into oblivion" way. But yes, we all need to read it. I'm thinking it'll be more along the lines of the former. He compared it to the ending of Mistborn in that regard, so I think it'll be something that changes Calamity for the better and alters the world accordingly.

Great, now Brandon vaguely spoilers his own rusting books.
Comatose he/him Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Aaahhhhhhh! According to an answer in another Reddit thread, Sanderson says that the ending of Calamity "will leave the characters and setting fundamentally changed." I NEED TO READ IT NOW Link plz.

Kobold King he/him Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Oh I see it. Take your time, I'm busy with work anyways. Just thought I'd check in. Depending on how Taylor and Glamour hit it off, how would we feel about them attempting to stage a coup or something in The Dalles? I think Taylor's getting tired of living life on the road, and between her and Glamour's powers, they could come up with some pretty neat deceptions I'd think. It also might be fun to see her begin to bring out Glamour's darker side. Not sure what you intended for the character though, these are just ideas I'm running with off the top of my head. I would like her to abandon Brandon though, because that's too much fun to pass up. I have absolutely no plans for Glamour, so I'd definitely be open to something like that. Taylor would have to fess up to having killed a guard, and would need to join the City Guard for a while in order to get in an ideal coup position, but overall it sounds like a neat arc. I'm thinking it'll be more along the lines of the former. He compared it to the ending of Mistborn in that regard, so I think it'll be something that changes Calamity for the better and alters the world accordingly. It'd be interested if it involves Epics no longer being corrupted by their powers, forming a more traditional superhero universe. There'd still be villains, but the world would quickly start becoming a much less crappy place.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Here's the link. To be fair, he only compares it to Mistborn in the sense that it "fulfills the promises introduced in the first book and leaves the characters and setting fundamentally changed."
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Clearly he means he canonizing Nighthound... Only if Nighthound dies. I wonder if one possible ending is somehow granting powers to everyone who already faced their worst fear. That would allow for a more traditional superhero setting, with heroes fighting villains and ultimately trying to help them become good. Of course, now that I said it, the actual book will end with every single Epic being permanently depowered as Calamity's last spiteful act against the human race. "Have fun cleaning up the mess you made, suckers!" *dies* 2

(Not that I mind given he payed me good money for my mental property. )

So would I, which is why you can tell I made it up. (Seriously though. Given that Brandon doesn't know any of us he should probably at least ask us before including any of our Epics to be on the safe side legally. I don't think anyone of us would try to cause him trouble but that doesn't mean we couldn't try.)

Sadly, the legal complications possible on our end would be one of the reasons it's so unlikely to happen.
Comatose he/him Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 One of the families we made up for MBI was included in the video game apparently, so obscure references in related works could be possible, but likely no overt character cameos. Now I'm thinking about an X-Men Mutant Academy/Mortal Kombat style Reckoners Game and am loving it. 1

Edgedancer he/him Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Twi, would the Metal telling the Financier that Bioterror reduced the zucchinies to zero and their bodies can't be ifdentified anymore help to calm him down? Seriously? That's awesome for you guys. I'm still thinking of how to sell tickets for the next big Dalles fight. How much?
Kobold King he/him Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 How much? I'll have to talk pricing with Voidus. Stay tuned for more info.

Kobold King he/him Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I'm pretty sure payment will be in upvotes. 1
Edgedancer he/him Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I'm pretty sure payment will be in upvotes. In that case I think the last fight scene counts as payment in advance. Alright, the Metal segment will most likely be up tomorrow.

PUBLIC POLL: In the Destructors/Astoria fight, we've been discussing Smasher and are split on an issue. Namely, Smasher can, canonically, expand his forcefields after creating them. The debate is whether or not it would be logical and practical to also add in the ability for him to contract his bubbles' size after creating them. Opinions? Should War Smasher be able to contract his forcefields? -Yes -No
