laxrulz777 he/him Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Beginning of WoK, Elhokar is ruling the feast in Gavilar's absence and is talking to a "dark-skinned Azish man who had an odd patch of pale skin on his cheek". When Szeth is resurrected by Naln, he is described as having, "dark brown skin like a man from the Makabaki region, but had a pale mark on his right cheek in the shape of a small hooked crescent". Azish is a subset of the makabaki region. Are these the same person? Does this have significance?
Darkness he/him Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Probably asking Elhokar for official permission to prosecute somebody he recognizes as a Surgebinder. Maybe Jasnah. I like thinking the Elhokar said, "No." and it happened just before Jasnah ran into Nalan in the hallway and they shared that awkward look.
Moogle Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 They are the same people. Szeth even remarks that he feels like he's seen Nalan before at the end of WoR. Jasnah speaks with Nalan during the feast as well, hearing him talk to someone else (who was also speaking with Elhokar given the similarity between their nervous tics) about "Ash", which we know by WoB is a nickname for Shalash. As to why Elhokar knows him, who knows. Jasnah says they were "ambassadors from the West". 2
Aleksiel Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 It's the same person and I think in WoR prelude Jasnah thinks he was one of the ambassadors of the West, so Elhokar should know him or at the very least made acquaintance of him since he was the acting Highprince of Kholinar and heir to the throne.

I'm starting to think we need a wiki for every minor character mentioned in every Brandon book. Then we can cross reference and maybe find the Terriswoman in Warbreaker
Vaidd he/him Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I'm starting to think we need a wiki for every minor character mentioned in every Brandon book. Then we can cross reference and maybe find the Terriswoman in Warbreaker There's a link to the Coppermind at the top of this page. Let us know when you're finished cataloging all of them for us.
natc Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 We really need to pick a name for Naln and stick to it don't we? I'm a bit afraid newcomers might get confused by his multitude of names.
Moogle Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 We really need to pick a name for Naln and stick to it don't we? I'm a bit afraid newcomers might get confused by his multitude of names. Well, the books don't help matters by giving a dozen names to each Herald. Jezrien is called the Stormfather, Yaezir, Jezerezeh, and Jezerezeh'Elin at times. I think he might also be the Prime Kadasix but don't quote me on that one. It seems like the Kadasix might be personal to each person and be versions of the Heralds because Baxil says each person has "their" Kadasixes, but Nalan claims the Heralds did not choose Gawx as Prime when various people say the Kadasix have spoken so it's more global than that? Paliah is also spelled Pailiah at one point by Adolin or something. Point is, I don't think we can manage to settle on one name when the books aren't going to. And if we did, it wouldn't help reader comprehension because the books are still going to use the multitude of names.
AerionBFII he/him Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 IIRC He was invited by Elhokar to the party according to Jasnah. I just think all high ranked personnel currently in Alethkar were invited not him especially, that would make more sense. I think he is in the dark about who he truly is and just thinks he is just some sort of important person from Azir.. Obviously Amaram doesn't know who he is. Can't blame Nin for that, Amaram would be all; "you are so beautiful great prince." "May i lick your feet great prince?" "Shall i throw the world into Desolation so you look good Great Prince?" 1
blad3mast3r he/him Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 We might find out what they were talking about in the next prologue
AerionBFII he/him Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 We might find out what they were talking about in the next prologue My hopes exactly, sadly SA isn't at the top of the list atm. Once SA gets a release date im going to have a complete reread of the Cosmere.
