TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) A pitty we never got Kabsal's full chart.Kabsal? (Which my phone seems to think is Kansas...)Edit: Nevermind. Edited March 24, 2015 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles
Edgedancer he/him Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 It's a pity more of us haven't read Stormlight. It'd be fun to imagine Oregon characters as Rosharans. (Hint: Backtrack is best Ghostblood. ) Voidgaze is best Edgedancer. (Because he blows the organization's secrets?)
mail-mi he/him Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 So, my question is, why hasn't anyone checked on Reader yet?
Edgedancer he/him Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 So, my question is, why hasn't anyone checked on Reader yet? For the same reason they left him alone in the first place, aka. incompetence. Twi, with the call from Arsenal is Autumn going next in the clinic?

Tulir he/him Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 So, because I was busy, my characters fell into the background for a while. Does anyone have any complaints with what I thought up to deal with them? Hydron-Was killed, and because he originally basically was Arsenal, Arsenal succeeded him. Event Horizon and Aura left during the Panda craziness, and might return. I probably will post up from them soon after leaving the city. Mundivore/Parity, I am withdrawing from completely. I do not plan to return to Portland. Feel free to NPC them, kill them, adopt them, make them leave, or whatever. 1

Dewhickey was an acquaintance of Vondra's before he became an Epic, so he would have been instituted in a high rank pretty early on. The rest seem good, though it's sad you're withdrawing from Portland. By the way, you're not annoyed with Deathwish dragging Florist around town like a ragdoll without letting him get a word in edgewise, are you?
Seonid he/him Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 So, I think that I might finally have time to start bringing Team Paladin and Weeks/Ari back. Now that the pandas are out of the picture, there's less opportunity for cool dragon-flaming stuff, but if somebody has an attacking minor Epic or two that they want to meet the business end of a fifty-foot armored, fire-breathing flying lizard, I can certainly oblige. And Arvin Weeks certainly would love being of help. Any thoughts on what Team Paladin might do in The Dalles? 1

Otherwise the City Guard is about to get its collective behind thoroughly kicked.

It is, but I don't have enough time, and they have been left alone for so long. I actually haven't read it yet, as I have been busy and still am, but I will let you know my opinion when I read it. 1
Seonid he/him Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 At least Paladin will be in his notEvil!Paladin mode. I'm not sure I can call him good!Paladin with a straight face... 1

Kobold King he/him Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Autumn post up. Darn it, I've reached my quota of positive votes for the day. Since negative votes would be quite contrary to the point I'd like to make, I'll use verbal communication: awesome as always.
mail-mi he/him Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) Why doesn't Reader have his radio? He would have had it on his person when he got locked in the post office, and even though absolutely no one tried to contact him while he was gone, he'd still have it on his person. You know, I'm starting to doubt that the City Guard actually values Reader as the asset that he is. (Yes, he's a remarkably slontzy asset, but an asset nonetheless. ) Edited March 24, 2015 by mail-mi

So the City Guard's unrealistic incompetence should be laid entirely on my shoulders.

We can handwave that they just didn't really care enough because they were being attacked by mutant pandas to check on him during the first part. IMO, you should just edit in Arsenal sending someone to contact Reader in his post, or Arsenal calling Reader through his radio. Because I think Reader does still have his radio. mail-mi he/him Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I assumed he pandas took it. All the pandas did was stuff Reader in a bag, then carry him under a flying pig, and then Frostfire "rescued" him.

But why wouldn't they take it? First rule of kidnapping: Don't give your hostage ANY away to call for help.
mail-mi he/him Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 But why wouldn't they take it? First rule of kidnapping: Don't give your hostage ANY away to call for help. True. I suppose they could have taken it. But the City Guard should be much more concerned about Reader being gone than they currently are, because Reader kind of knows all the city's secrets.

(Edited portion in bold.) Arsenal nodded. "That must be it. Send him to talk to me when he gets here." He was silent for a moment, eyes scanning the map of The Dalles spread out over the table. "Have we heard from Reader?" "No, sir," the guard replied hesitantly. "We think he lost his radio." "Sparks," Arsenal growled quietly. "He knows far too much to be in enemy hands. We can just hope his guards managed to take care of him before the pandas got to him." He shook his head, again checking the most turbulent places on the map. "Any news on these Epics that keep attacking our checkpoints?"

It just didn't seem logical to me that no one cared. Well, no one does care about reader, but they care about his brain.
Tulir he/him Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I actually haven't read it yet, as I have been busy and still am, but I will let you know my opinion when I read it. So, Florist is probably going to react badly to that overall situation.... Post will be up before tomorrow most likely.

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 True. I suppose they could have taken it. But the City Guard should be much more concerned about Reader being gone than they currently are, because Reader kind of knows all the city's secrets. It should've been the pandas' first action. Leaving it would be like letting your hostage keep their cell phone with 911 pre dialed. And how long was Reader missing, anyway?
