CarolaDavar she/her Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 My Art's Horrible! (compared to you guys) YAY! Your art's GOOD! YAY! Hey, you should post some pictures, I'd like to see!I am glad you like it. Perhaps i could post some Undertale fanart, but i don't know if this might be the wrong place to put it...

Sunbird she/her Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 You might like Jim Butcher's new Cinder Spires novels. The Aeronaut's Windlass definitely has some meatier worldbuilding to it, along with a lot of hints of things behind the scenes that we can't see yet. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It was storming AWESOME, and I'm sad that GoodReads doesn't even have a release date for book 2 yet...
sheep Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Okay, Wow. Truely inspiring. And yeah. YOu see, I keep forgetting that... I am a twelve-year old, and the people's art that i look at, they'r, like, y'know twenty or older(sometimes a bit younger, too). But, when i look at all my friend's art, I realized just how blessed i am with artistic talent. I mean, comparing the art of a twlve-year old to that of a twenty-year old? That's unfair! Well. . . As for Shading and Drawing objects, I did this of my 17th Shard character. YOu have truely inspired me, so i think this is one of my first digital drawings that i put all of my heart into it. I may not be completely satisfied this, but i am at least HAPPY with it. I mean, when did i even get the skills to DRAW this bookcase? This is why feeling sad isn't the right response when looking at other people's art. Because everyone starts out as a noob, and some people don't have the bonus of +1 fine motor skills that others are born with. Everything else, like an eye for understanding shape and shade comes from training your eyes to be more analytical. In this universe, perfect pitch doesn't come as a gift. I wish I still had some of my old charcoal practice books from when I was 13 years old, it would be a great way to show my progress. I didn't start to properly learn art "the old fashioned way" with fruit bowls until I was 13, with a scary teacher who yelled a lot because "tough love" was how he rolled. Seriously, his exercises were drop and give me fifty "draw 50 circles" to learn to freehand without hesitation. I still have my old charcoal pencils in the back of a drawer somewhere, probably smashed to bits now. Here's a tip for you - when you draw perspective for a background, you have to choose a "vanishing point", or a place where everything disappears into the horizon. Even if it's off page, you still have to figure out where it is, because it's where all the horizontal lines intersect. Everything follows it, like the top of the tables and the shelves. The vertical lines should be parallel and at the same angle. It's pretty good otherwise, though. I remember hating to do backgrounds when I was younger, because I sucked at it majorly. I still don't like doing them much, but at least I'm not afraid of them any more. My Art's Horrible! (compared to you guys) YAY! Your art's GOOD! YAY! Your art's not horrible! Please don't think that! And do I spy another Australian Sharder???? I see you using VAD's to post your sketches. I wouldn't be surprised if we used the same type lol. They are super handy, even though they all look the same so I have to go digging in my stack of them if I want to find older work. Eh, they were fluff, but they were fun fluff. I don't mind a bit of fluff now and then. You might like Jim Butcher's new Cinder Spires novels. The Aeronaut's Windlass definitely has some meatier worldbuilding to it, along with a lot of hints of things behind the scenes that we can't see yet. Yep, that was me! I am the crazy woman who learns new skills solely for the sake of cosplay. And...you never truly stop damaging yourself. One of my mottos is, "It's not really a cosplay until you've bled for it." Fluff makes good decompression reading between heavier novels! I've read some reviews for Aeronaut, but I was never much into Butcher's other Harry Dresden series, so I've been ambivalent about picking it up. Maybe I'll pick it up when sequels are out. Bled for it is only the beginning. I've stabbed myself with needles and burned myself as well, heating up a knife to cut better when the box cutter wasn't working. It's the sacrifice to the cosplay gods. 1

I imagine it's because they don't know yet; he'll be alternating those books with Dresden Files, like he did when he was writing Codex Alera. Flipping back and forth between worlds is how he stays fresh and sane. Fluff makes good decompression reading between heavier novels! It's the sacrifice to the cosplay gods. I enjoyed it thoroughly; it has a different feel from Dresden Files, and definitely way different pacing. And a LOT more points of view. It's glorious and kind of weird and the sentient cats are hilarious. Oh, hot glue gun burns, how I hate thee. I've got some interesting scars on my hands from working chain and scale mail, too. You can really rip some holes in your flesh when the pliers slip.

Oh, well I guess I can look at that as good news then, since I also love the Dresden Files and would hate to be left hanging without the next one of those for years on end. I also loved the cats in Aeronaut's Windlass. I have lived with a cat or cats ever since I was about 4, and I think Jim Butcher perfectly captured their arrogance and aloofness in Rowl.

Cunegonde she/her Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Hey did any of you notice that those inked portraits of Shallan, Kaladin, Dalinar, Jasnash, Adolin and Navani disappeared? Any idea why? If you're talking about my drawings, apologies if it wasn't the case, I contacted a moderator to have them removed because of reasons.

Sunbird she/her Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Looks mad! Love the shading! I was trying to give her a cheerful expression, since she seems to have a bubbly personality in the books... Oh well. Win some, lose some, I guess.

Brightness Enna she/her Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Hiii. You people are awesome. I'm thinking about joining, too! Quick question first. I have some stuff I think I might post but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to put pictures in from the computer. I've done it before... I just forgot. I am stumped. (The help thingy says to use the uploader, but where is that?) Thank you!
CarolaDavar she/her Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Hello, brightness enna! Good to meet you.

(The help thingy says to use the uploader, but where is that?) Thank you! I haven't figured out how to upload pictures directly from my computer to the forums, either, but you can also use an image hosting site such as photobucket.com or tinypic.com to upload the pictures there first and then copy the BBCode that those sites provide into your forum post.
Darkness Ascendant he/him Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 i post my stuff on deviantart then go from there
