Eagle of the Forest Path he/him Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) The quiche gave it away didn't it? Yes, it was Bone, by Jeff Smith. Your turn, @phattemer. Edit: I adore those two rat creatures! Edited August 25, 2016 by Eagle of the Forest Path
phattemer Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 A wizard becomes a barbarian, but is mad that magic doesn't work the way he thinks it should.

phattemer Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Indeed! A bonus point if you can name the barbarian...
Alfa he/him Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Thorg. But let's make it only half of a point, since I had to look it up. Well. Had I guessed anything else I would make the description about the Dresden Files, since I am reading them currently. So... let's say this: Two guys involuntarily entangled in something they dislike end up saving one large-scale organisation, bringing down another and watching the internal destruction of a third - the third, while trying to shift the balance in a fourth.

You know what this reminds me of? Eshonai's mother, her house repeatedly getting destroyed by highstorms but she doesn't want to move out
Delightful Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 (edited) Nope and nope She keeps priceless treasure(s?) hidden in her basement. Edited August 27, 2016 by Delightful
Delightful Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Here's another hint: the story is in a very large world. Large scale story.
Delightful Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Okay here's another: She's not the protagonist but she is very cool. She wears glasses. (Are people still guessing?)
Delightful Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Hahaha ok. I'll be more obvious. The story-relevant time her house burned down was due to attack by two different armies. At the time, the house included at least two spies, an old man, and a bunch of people from different planets. None of the above mentioned people are the protagonist, who is female.
Darkness Ascendant he/him Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 What the storms is this book? I WANT TO READ IT!
Pestis the Spider she/her Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Foster Home for Imaginary Friends?
Delightful Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 It's a movie, came out this year. Part of a larger franchise. I'm running out of obtuse non-obvious hints...... Let's see....... The main antagonist has serious anger management issues, and is trying way too hard to be like his dead grandfather who is (apparently) his only hero. (When you want me to just tell you what the answer is, say so. This is fun but I can't tell when it gets annoying for you).
