Khyrindor he/him Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 My 13 year old brother was diagnosed with aggressive lymphoma cancer yesterday and the doctors are giving him chemotherapy. Please pray for him and my family to get through this. Thank you, everyone. 3
Kobold King he/him Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Dear Heavenly Father, Please watch over Your child, Khyrindor's brother. We ask that you keep him safe through his operation and unharmed from the ravages of disease. We ask that you guide him, the doctors, and his family during this time of illness. Please heal his body and comfort his loved ones. In Your name we pray, Amen. Your brother shall be in my regular prayers, Khyrindor. I can't do nearly the good for you that God can, but for what it's worth, I wish him the best of luck in the chemotherapy. And I wish him, yourself, and the rest of your family strength and courage in facing this dilemma. 5
Khyrindor he/him Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 Thank you so much, Kobold. It means a lot to me. 1
Quiver he/him Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I know it won't mean much, but I'm sorry that this has happened. All I can do is echo Kobolds sentiments of luck and strength. I'm not particularly religious, but next chance I get, I'll light a candle for you and your family. And...if you ever want to talk or anything, my PM box is always open. 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Definitely praying for him. 2
Voidus Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Hope that all goes well with the treatment. As with Quiver if you ever need someone to talk to I'm always happy to talk. My brother was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma when we were both pretty young and I know how hard it can be to cope with. But my brother pulled through and I hope yours will too. 1
Kaymyth she/her Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) My religion's a bit off the beaten path, but if you're cool with throwing the ancient Egyptian gods into the ring, I'll make some offerings tonight. If not, you get virtual *hugs* instead. And on a more practical note, to anyone else reading this: lymphoma is one of the types of cancer for which one of the more advanced treatments is a bone marrow transplant. If you're not already, please consider heading over to the Be the Match website and getting yourself on the donor list. Edited February 14, 2015 by Kaymyth
Khyrindor he/him Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 They gave him his second dose of Chemo this afternoon, and he is responding well thus far. Thank you all for your prayers and well-wishes. As far as me, I'm okay right now. I'm more worried for my parents at the moment. I visited earlier and they'd taken his meds down a bit so he was responsive to questions and commands. He even opened his eyes a few times, though I imagine that tube down his throat is a bit uncomfortable. Lymphoma is the most aggressive cancer, with cells doubling every twenty four hours (as far as I know), but it is also one of the most treatable. We got to it in time though, so if the chemo takes these next couple days, they'll be able to take him out of ICU and into his own room. We actually live 8 hours away from the hospital, so I'll be coming back and forth with my dad because we are both working. My mom will be staying with him the whole time. One positive about all this is the overwhelming support from everyone. People have donated about $2000 already towards expenses (but this is Canada so, free health care) and they started a facebook page. If you wanted to join it I can give you a link, just PM me. Again, thank you so much, everyone.
