Red Ferring he/him Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but I've been wondering if the size/mass of a metalmind determines the amount of whatever attribute it can hold. The fact that Sazed's copperminds were the largest that he owned and he had 4 of them does indicate size is proportional in some way to capacity but if this is true, is there any scale by which to guage how much of a trait can fit in however large a metalmind? Thoughts/WoBs? Thanks!
Voidus Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 It does but I don't think we've ever seen any examples of a completely filled Metalmind. I think part of the reason Sazed did that with his copperminds was for organisational reasons although I could be wrong.
Kaymyth she/her Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 There is a sizing scale, but outside the MAG (which is completely unreliable for Investiture mechanics) we have no concrete description of the details of that scale. It would be interesting to know, but right now, all we can do is speculate.
Guest Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) It's probably one of those that will be released in the eventual Cosmere Bible. Edit: Just realized that my next post will be my 1000th. Decisions, decisions... Edited February 4, 2015 by Snoopy
Red Ferring he/him Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 I always wondered why not just wear a small earring or ring for all your Metalminds. I can't think off hand of a time when Sazed had a full Metalmind
Oudeis he/him Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 The general impression I get from various implications throughout the text is that technically there's an upper limit, but you need an insane amount of any given trait before you would fill up a small bracelet. His copperminds were huge, but I seem to recall a mention somewhere, either when Sazed talks about getting his own copperminds or when he talks about transfering them to Tindwyl, that the copperminds have months if not years of memories of just the recitation of books. So... a lot, is what I'm saying.
natc Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Well, he does have to recite all of the general Keeper info into his copperminds as well as full research on hundreds of religions gathered over centuries. That's probably a lot.
