Varyn he/him Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Like in every single one of Sanderson's works, all of the characters are great: witty, emotional, and, arguably most importantly, believable. As such, I loved every protagonist-type character in Warbreaker, and each had their own quirks. Vasher, however, was my favourite: he was so much of an enigma, and at the end, when all was revealed, very captivating. That raw power that Vasher has, additionally, draws you in, and yet I felt sympathy for him as his struggles were revealed. Other characters, those like Lightsong and Nightblood were arguably more humorous, witty, or even more interesting, but I found Vasher's character, as well as the way his storyline and character arc tied in with Vivenna's, what kept me reading Warbreaker to the very end. All in all, I found the entire novel a great read, a great example of Sanderson's art, and a novel full of amazing characters. 2
Orlion Blight he/him Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Brandon seems to like to give us very little of some of the most interesting characters. Sometimes, a certain "mystic" is the best why to characterize someone. WoR Spoiler Not to mention, when these characters DO show up, they tend to steal the scene. 1
FireSlayer she/her Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I really really really liked Lightsong. I mean...wow. I can't even find the right words to encapsulate all the things I liked about him, he was just. so. perfect. And Nightblood ran a close second because who could resist that mix of adorable and evil? xD (Though really everyone was great, Susiri was the sweetest thing EVER, and I loved all the mercenary humor at the beginning.)
natc Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I really really really liked Lightsong. I mean...wow. Did you just call a destroyer of evil "evil"?
FireSlayer she/her Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Did you just call a destroyer of evil "evil"? Erm. Looks like it? 0=D But what other adjective should one use when its first words to Vivenna were something along the lines of "Hello, do you want to kill someone today?" Twisted might work, I suppose. *shrugs* xD
natc Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 He destroys evil indiscriminately. It's all he loves. It's his life's purpose! And he has no clue what evil is. But he's getting better with that :3 He's just passionate about his Command is all. He can't even stop.
Moonskin she/her Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Its not easy to pick just one favorite character because they are all interesting, but as I impatiently waited for Vasher's apparitions since the beginning I voted for him (I usually like the scholars and warriors the best in a story; Vasher being both has to be on my top-list of favorites )
Zathoth Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 (edited) This is a hard choice, I have to go with Vasher though, but it is more like the combination of Vasher, Nightblood and Vivenna, they are really entertaining together. Edited June 28, 2015 by Morzathoth
Sol Invictus he/him Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Siri! She refused to buckle under the strain of two very different cultures---Idris and Hallendren---and yet retained her innate goodness, compassion and likability. 1
MISTaken she/her Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I wish this was multiple choice. If I could have, I would have picked both Lightsong and Blushweaver. Not only were the conversations between the 2 absolutely hilarious, but I loved how they could get along without getting along. Both of the characters were interesting alone, but together, they were flawless.
lightsongthebold Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Definitely lightsong. If only he could worldhop and work with wax and wayne 1
azninvasion99 he/him Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Lightsong, hands down. I always looked forward to his chapters, and he was hysterical.
Landis963 he/him Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Lightsong is my favorite, hands down. Then Siri, then Vasher, then Vivenna. (Something about her reminded me of pre-character development Sansa Stark, and I found pre-character development Sansa Stark grating, arrogant, and arrrgh where is your clue-by-four already?). However, I do see why Brandon might look forward to writing the Vivenna we saw at the end of the story, because I'm interested in reading her story. EDIT: Siri and Vasher are tied for second for me. I just know I loved Lightsong, I hated Princess Vivenna, and I liked the other two. Edited November 6, 2015 by Landis963
Yata he/him Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Lightsong is THE Character of Warbreaker. I would love to see a chat between him and Nightblood
Rage_Fortress he/him Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I have to say, I'm kind of surprised at the lack of love for Susebron. While I prefer Vivenna's character and arc, I found the twists related to the God Kings interesting, and Susebron was a neat character... not to mention that his and Siri's romance is, for me, the best-written romance in the cosmere novels thus far. I also really loved Susebron. For the reasons you stated. It was a twist I definitely didn' t see coming. Lightsong however just made me laugh far too often and I'm a sucker for well written comedy in books.
Master Elodin Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Lightsong is most definitely the best and funniest.
GenericMastermindAnt Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Nightblood! Poor thing, no one wants to speak to it: don't understand why, it has such an interesting conversation. Maybe it will find a suitable owner, who will like its main features! Well if you have read <recent book here> you know how that turns out
AnikoliNightmareVision she/her Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 (edited) "I try to avoid having thoughts. They lead to other thoughts, and-if you're not careful-those lead to actions. Actions make you tired. I have this on rather good authority from someone who once read it in a book." Lightsong. This is my favourite quote by Lightsong. He's my favourite character because he's so funny and he wants to do the right thing so badly, also he has questioned himself.huge warbreaker spoiler when he died I was like:" why all my favourite characters have to die!?!" Edited March 19, 2016 by AnikoliNightmareVision 2
Cruxer he/him Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Vasher is my second favourite comer character, the first being Kelsier.
Eccentric Hero he/him Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 (edited) Vasher is my second favourite comer character, the first being Kelsier. You mean Wartlover the Ugly? Also your username is Warbreaker but he's on 2nd place for you. Vasher is actually my most favorite character with Kaladin Kelsier as second. Edited March 25, 2016 by Eccentric Hero
Mistibournes Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Denth's probably my favourite non-cosmic villain in the Cosmere, just beating Hrathen, so he'd be my favourite. Vasher is a close second favourite of Warbreaker, and then Nightblood. 2
Eccentric Hero he/him Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 (edited) No Llarimar love? Totally forgot. Yes, Llarimar. Edited April 22, 2016 by Eccentric Hero
eszroth Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 I'm surprised how few voted for Denth. First impressions obviously Vasher is sweet but Denth grew on me throughout the book. Lightsong was really cool too but his character seemed similar to mistborn's Elend and Wax who I like but aren't my favorite.
