anarchitect Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) Adonalsium is not every shard combined. Adonalsium was merely the person that held all the shards. When all shards are combined it becomes something else entirely. So maybe Adonalsium was the creator of the shards and maybe Adonalsium is still alive, just not holding his creation anymore. thecatinthehat Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Adonalsium is not every shard combined. Adonalsium was merely the person that held all the shards. When all shards are combined it becomes something else entirely. As per Word of Brandon, in the Cosmere the word Shard means both the person and the power. So Adonalsium would be both the sixteen powers combined and the person holding them.
anarchitect Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) Yes, but Adolnasium might be used to mislead. He might be something entirely more human like Ati, Leras, Aona, Tanavast, Rayse and Bavadin while the shard as whole is something similar to Ruin, Cultivation, Honor, etc. Edited January 7, 2015 by anarchitect
king of nowhere Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 if adonalsium was the human holding all 16 shards, then adonalsium was the union of all shards. the two are the same.
taveren he/him Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 i guess maybe if they didn't know his name. but when they talk about the shard holders they say death not shatter 1
AerionBFII he/him Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) I personally don't think Adonalsium ever had a Holder.. I think it was a power or a force with some form of consciousness or sentience which eventually created Yolen. I think it was the original power of the Cosmere and once it was deliberately Shattered the 16 stepped forward and chose the Shards and divided it's power across the planets to stop it from running wild. This always springs to mind whenever the Shard holders are mentioned. Edited January 16, 2015 by WEZ313 1
Argent he/him Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 As per Seattle's Steelheart Signing, it was Adonalsium itself that Shattered, so it couldn't have been a person, or a Holder.
Meg Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 As per Seattle's Steelheart Signing, it was Adonalsium itself that Shattered, so it couldn't have been a person, or a Holder. Argent is right but the link is wrong: It's answer no 25
