Hoping the 17th Shard can keep me informed on when the next one will come out and my find other books by Sanderson 1

I prefer to call it Best Cosmere Book, but to each their own. Anyway, you should read it, especially if you liked the Stormlight Archives.

With that, Cary, read Warbreaker or the Mistborn series after you finish Elantris. Elantris is one of Sanderson's earlier books, so his writing style isn't what you got in the Stormlight Archive; nonetheless it's still an amazing book as well!
