Shivertongue he/him
THIS THREAD WILL MOST LIKELY CONTAIN SPOILERS. Discussion thread for the Great Reread, pertaining to book 7, A Crown of Swords. This is book number seven, which, yes, means six books precede it. You've jumped in way too deep if you decided, against all logic, to start with this one. frozndevl
Working on this one now. Though, I shouldn't say work because it is very enjoyable. I think what I loved about the first part of this book is that it is all Rand / Perrin, all the time. Since we have our first "first-hand" exposure to someone going a bit nuts, Dashiva (though not really), it reminded me of a thought I had originally when reading this. I think that I never considered Rand himself going crazy, but talking to a past life would drive you to extreme distraction. The fact that LTT would try to seize Saidin to me seemed to speak against him going nuts. Now, some would say that it was all in Rand's head, but the fact that LTT was able to tell Rand actual correct information led me to believe otherwise. I was also grateful that I didn't have to see the super friends (Nyn & Elayne) for a long time.
Shivertongue he/him
Aww, I like Nynaeve and Elayne. They're my two favorite SuperGirls. I've also started on Crown of Swords, although I am forcing myself to a slower pace. I did the math a few days ago, dividing the number of days before AMoL comes out and how many chapters are in all the books I have left, and I can finish on January 8th exactly if I limit myself to two chapters a day. To aid in this, I am continuing my reread of The Way of Kings on the side, and rereading A Game of Thrones. It's really interesting to see the contrast between Martin and Jordan. Swovan Night... man, I love that chapter. Mat and Birgitte work so well together.
Lance Alvein he/him
I also started Crown of Swords this week - I've started to slow down, as I've picked up a few games that have been taking my time away from reading, but based upon your math there, I'm sure that I'll still be finishing in time
frozndevl
Same thing with me, I had a bit of a freakout that I wouldn't finish, then realized I'm reading like a fat man in a buffet line, nothing will get in my way. Of the Super Girls, Nyn has always been my favorite, but her irrational fear/annoyance with Mat at the end of LoC and so far into CoS just really annoys me.
