Mindie she/her Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 This stinks. Does anyone else feel this way? Will he continue to do writing excuses? Will we ever see him again if he moves so far away? I messaged him on facebook to ask why and he said, why not? ARG!
JamesW he/him Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 They have already recorded the entire coming year of Writing Excuses. I imagine that by the time he returns they will have just run out of pre-recorded content, or can fill the gap with special guests or long distance recording. And I believe he stated in his blog (Somewhere) that he will only be moving there for a year, and be coming back after that. He wanted to have a chance for his family to experience life abroad, and to be available for some of his European Fans for signings and the like. He also mentioned he'll be returning several times for different conventions or events. I'll try and find the blog post, but you could find it on his site if you looked. JW
Rubix he/him Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Yeah. They're only moving out there for a year, and it's mostly because now's the best time for them to do it, while the kids aren't too old/in high school. They want their kids to get out and get some experience outside of Utah. As for why Germany, they're actually Dan's biggest market, and the sole reason that he can afford to be a full time writer.
Mindie she/her Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 Thank you so much for the information. I was totally going into panic mode! One year is a great experience. It makes much more sense now. I will read his blog from now on.
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 It doesn't hurt that Dan's wife already speaks German.
guess Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 hope he doesn't have to pay german taxes. i heard they are typically about 50% of income.
