Edgedancer he/him Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Sympathy upvote. Though if it helps, even we who live in America can't seem to catch the guy. Also, I've been hitting my upvote quota every day here lately. People of the 17th Shard, I'd like to solemnly ask that you stop posting clever, insightful, or regretful comments. If you hugged Brandon Sanderson while cosplaying as an OC character from a Sanderson-inspired roleplay that you founded and GMed, you would be officially declared the Queen of the Sander-nerds. And then there are guy that apparently get to see him out shopping. I have to agree there.
Kobold King he/him Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) Is Timeport going to become the new And Then Nighthound Died? If he is, I'm not sure if I'm excited or terrified at myself . Have him capture a pretty female minor Epic and constantly abuse her while sprinkling his dialogue with creepy remarks. His creepiness level should pass 9000 fairly quickly, causing usage of the phrase "And then Timeport died" to skyrocket in short order. And then there are guy that apparently get to see him out shopping. I have to agree there. It's probably for the best that I've never seen him shopping. I'd be compelled to flail around on the floor by his feet, grovelling and begging him to sign all the groceries in my basket. Edited January 4, 2015 by Kobold King 1
Mailliw73 he/him Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Yes, because calling down the thunder is so inconspicuous. Maybe you simply want to make this as eembarrassing as possible for Autumn. : I think he meant because Lucy had already declined investigating the lightning : Correct. Now there are going to be pandas, so there's that too. Yeah, I like that. Sounds good. I'll get something up by tomorrow. Oh fishsticks. I forgot to do those for Voidgaze and Altermind! I'll make those at my earliest opportunity. I forgot about those too, but thanks.
Kobold King he/him Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I wish that the tour would stop by where I live, although I did get to get my Mistborn book signed (while dressed as Vin, actually), at ComicCon. Which was awesome. Cool! Did you make your own mistcloak costume?
Queen Elsa Steelheart she/her Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) Hi everyone! I'm new to the role-play stuff and I just wanted to ask a few questions. So in the spoiler tag I have my epic and extra things about her which I've already posted in the Epic thread and I was wondering on peoples opiion on where and how I should do her introduction and their characters reactions. Thanks Epic name: Snow Queen ElsaPrimary power: Able to create snow and Ice out of her hands, and also able to create literally anything out of it. Her signature move is her ice spike blast but her favourite move when she is not battling, is the icy staircase. Appearance: Platnium blonde hair, looks about 21 years old, usually seen wearing an ice dress and sometimes a tiara.Has a slim torso.Personality: She is quite happy most of the time however, her mood can change very quickly when in danger or angered. She is much more powerful than she looks. She is mostly outgoing and hates when the other epics show cruelty and tries to stop it,History: Elsa used to live in Arendelle then moved to Oregon with the other epics. Arendelle wouldn't accept her. She was called a monster and a witch. Epic!Hans forced all the Epics in Arendelle to adopt the identities and personas of characters in Disney movies. Arendelle was basically one big disturbing game of pretend. Elsa wanted to get away from that and Hans's influence on Arendelle. She came to Oregon trying to carve out a new, more humane identity for herself. She came to Oregon/Dalles to be accepted. She has been living there for almost a year now. I like the Snow Queen as an Epic. One thing I'd just point out, though, is that What Happened in Oregon takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth, just like in Steelheart. Arendelle as it was portrayed in Frozen wouldn't fit with the setting. However, if you were intending Arendelle to be the name of an Epic stronghold somewhere in the world, then it works just fine. 1

Kobold King he/him Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Thank you ! I think I'd go with the second option you said, it works better Cool. (In more ways than one, I suppose. ) Though I begin to ponder at my own suggestion... what sort of situation would cause an Epic-run state to declare an Epic to be a witch? Is there an Epic!Hans ruling there who runs a Spanish Inquisition of sorts in the country, driving out those who oppose him while calling them witches and monsters? 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 Maybe she overpowered him, leading to him declaring her a witch and exiling her?
Kobold King he/him Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Maybe she overpowered him, leading to him declaring her a witch and exiling her? I could buy that. I'm trying to write a Sam viewpoint now, by the way. I'm a little out of practice and I keep veering towards the melodramatic side of the mood spectrum, but at least the meeting will get moving again.

Kobold King he/him Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Who's Sam? I'm really liking these ideas! Samantha Trattner. A teenage character without any powers, currently residing with Doctor Funtimes as her "friend." She's probably the physically weakest character in the RP, Backtrack included, but she's managed to tick off three of the most powerful Epics in the city. So... Epic!Hans is canon? 1

If Epic!Hans forced all the Epics in Arendelle to adopt the identities and personas of characters in Disney movies. Arendelle could basically be one big disturbing game of pretend, intensified if it were actually Disneyland California. Then that would make Elsa's arc about getting away from hat, determining how much of her Elsa identity (and the horrible things she did under Calamity's corruption) was her and how much was Hans' influence, and trying to carve out a new, more humane identity for herself. 2

Kobold King he/him Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Forgive my ignorance, but who precisely is "Leech"? He's' listed as one of the Epics working for CorpseMaker, but I can't quite remember who he is or what his powers are.
Mailliw73 he/him Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Something to do with leeching the strength/health of vanillas, IIRC.
Queen Elsa Steelheart she/her Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Thank you for all the great suggestions I just hit 1234 posts.....That's amusing. 1
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Forgive my ignorance, but who precisely is "Leech"? He's' listed as one of the Epics working for CorpseMaker, but I can't quite remember who he is or what his powers are. He's a Bloodmaker Vampire. He can drain and store health, or give it to people. Before CorpseMaker 'recruited' him, he ruled over an apartment building. The people inside were under his protection, and took turns giving him health.
Mailliw73 he/him Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Snarky little Sam. I love it. Of course, Altermind wont. But he'll give her her chance. Twi and Mail-mi, do you mind if Electro meets up with Quota and Timeport? Twi, don't worry, you'll see your little attack dogs sent out by Chi soon enough. You might have to wade through Electro's cruelty first though.

I almost wonder if we should post a Thoughttown flashback just to show why Sam doesn't like AM, or else this could get confusing for everybody else. Kobold...I...I...you forgot Timeport! I suppose you must have blocked him out of your mind after reading his last couple posts. That is okay I didn't forget him. Actually I was kind of hoping to include Lightwards' thoughts on him. But I didn't see his name on the list of Epics Flashpoint was describing to the Empire.

Since all of Quota's posts from here on out will be dedicated to making no one at all mourn his passing, forming a trifecta of terror with Electro will be just the thing. Yay! (And boo.) But yay! Puppies! Also, I was thinking a bit more about Arendelle, and I came up with the following ideas. Elsa, tell me what you like and don't like, and everyone feel free to add your own ideas and change mine. These are just ideas. The first thing I thought of with Epic!Hans was to make him a low-level, high-range mind controller. In other words, if his power allowed him to lower the inhibitions of others, he could make them more susceptible to joining his sick little game. This, then, would lead him to choose one of the more powerful, yet less confident, Epics in Arendelle as his lover: Elsa. By lowering her inhibitions, he could make her more susceptible to his influence and keep her at his side. Perhaps combined with some fear of punishment, as well as the distractions Arendelle had to offer a powerful Epic, his powers could keep Elsa from running away or making a bid for power. Now for the setting. Arendelle would be what we now know as Disneyland California, transformed into a place where Epics took on the identities and personas of Disney heroes and villains. This would be like a sort of darker Renaissance Faire, where Epics chose a role and refused to break character. Vanillas would be forced into the lesser roles—the villagers in Beauty and the Beast, Mardi Gras parade members in The Princess and the Frog, other boys on Pleasure Island in Pinocchio. Their role would be to feed the Epics' delusions and never, ever break character. "Wait," you may be asking, "what about movies like The Little Mermaid, where all the bit parts are fish, or The Lion King where everyone is a lion or a zebra?" The way I see those roles being filled is by vanillas in those "movies" wearing animal skins matching their role (zebra, wildebeest, antelope, etc.) and speaking as little as possible. Epic!Mufasa, Epic!Scar, Epic!Sarabi, etc. would "hunt" those vanillas to maintain the "circle of life." How this would be accomplished (guns, bare hands, some combination of the two) depends on how far past the Moral Event Horizon we want those Epics to have gone. As for The Little Mermaid, one option would be to have Epic!Ariel with the ability to breathe underwater. Perhaps she has teamed up with Epic!Ursula, who can forcibly mutate vanillas to the point where they have gills and can function as well underwater as they can on land. Or perhaps Epic!Ariel is land-bound and simply spends as much time near the water as possible. Again, it depends on how much nightmare fuel Elsa wants in her character's backstory. Arendelle would be an exciting place to live. Epics would reenact various scenes from the movies they represented—the "Kill the Beast" scene and the storming the castle scene from Beauty and the Beast, the kingdom dance scene from Tangled, the ball from Cinderella. Vanillas would be forced to reenact those scenes along with their Epic masters and mistresses—though, with Epics, there would be far more casualties than were depicted in the original films. How would there be casualties at a ball? Well, they're Epics. They'll figure something out. 3

Actually I was kind of hoping to include Lightwards' thoughts on him. But I didn't see his name on the list of Epics Flashpoint was describing to the Empire. XD I kinda forgot that not everyone knows. It'd make more sense from Sam's viewpoint though. Once I write up Altermind's next segment, do you want to have a short flashback with that stuff? Whoops. Pretend he was. That was just a brief list of some. I also didn't include Frozen, so maybe Flashpoint forgot to explain each of them. But there was a picture or at least a short power description written down. I don't mind at all. That's terrifying.
