Deception He/Him Posted May 4 Posted May 4 What do you think about this? Taravangian's entire plan is to stop anyone from getting hurt ever, force people to be unchanging, blah blah blah. Does this not line up perfectly with Preservation's Intent?
Schizoposting Posted May 4 Posted May 4 That's not Taravangian's plan at all—he wants to create a utopia through divine intervention, by conquering the Cosmere. This antithetical to preserving the status quo, which is the intent of Preservation.

I said in another topic that Taravangian was expressing the bad side of Preservation. All the Shards are expressed everywhere in the Cosmere, after all, even if the Vessel's awareness can't comprehend everything. Endowment's Investiture Preserves the Returned, after all. Preservation's gift of bits of Itself to all Scadrians (making Allomancy possible) is clearly Endowment (which just means gifting). Kelsier is very, very devoted to keeping Scadrial Autonomous, for that matter. Shallan clearly shows Virtuosity in her art. Nobody would argue that Kaladin isn't Valorous. Jasnah is Devoted to her scholarship. Etc. Taravangian is putting himself in opposition to Endowment, maybe. Stormlight used to be a free gift to anyone on Roshar, after all. Now Warlight is something you have to pay for, with prayer to Retribution.
Frustration Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Preservation doesn't care too much for protection, only stasis. The best example I can think of is that Preservation liked the Final Empire. That doesn't protect the skaa, it just keeps what exists in place 1
