This should probably be in Mistborn forum, since it deals with HoA Spoilers.

iykyk But if you don't, its completely fine.  Its dark humour, btw, so I'm sorry if anyone's offended; but WTH IS THIS WORD CHOICE

I see nothing wrong with the word choice. I understand the reference you are making - and that definition of "groom" is 4th of 7 for the conjugation "grooming" - far from the only definition and not even close to the primary definition. I'm sorry that is the direction your mind took that sentence - but there is nothing in the passage stating or implying that definition was intended.

Also, please note that this book is now over 20 years old - the amount of child predation news was lower, making it less likely for the passage to be misread.

As the venerable Gump said "Oops happens. Sometimes" (Paraphrased)

Thank you very much.

According to Merriam-webster, “groom” as a verb can mean "to make (someone) ready for a specific objective.” Added with context (“her to take his power”), it makes sense.

I think this perfectly describes the situation in a way other words don’t necessarily, such as “prepare,” “ready,”  or “train.” I also agree with Treamayne.

Elend, my friend, I hope you've learned your lesson. Try to make that kind of joke here and you won't be reacted to in a normal way; instead, your joke will be ruthlessly analyzed, corrected and discarded by the community.

Welcome to the 17th Shard 😀

(Can't really be talking, as I'm kind of new here too)
