Aliroz-The-Confused Posted February 12 Posted February 12 SImilar to Frustration's threads prompting the readers to try to figure out how to do things, here's this one. The mission: The Nightwatcher, grieving her dear brother the Stormfather, abandoned by her mother Koravellium Avast who is Cultivation, has watched the Suck-Empress Of Garbage subsume her last remaining sibling The Sibling. Unforunately, that perfidious cringe-matriarch of all things trashy has SINISTERLY and UNJUSTIFIABLY turned herself into a magic crystal ON PURPOSE to prevent her own death from being possible and to keep The Sibling trapped. The Nightwatcher wants to save The Sibling, if there still remains anything of The Sibling left to save. Whoever you are, you have the support of the so-called "Lesser spren" in the endeavor of rescuing their only advocate. You might be able to get ghostblood support (unless you already are one). You can almost certainly get the support of many of the Honorspren of Lasting Integrity, especially Sekeir, given that the so-called "greater" spren who are in that horrifying abomination known as the Nahel Bond with the honorless humans are almost certainly destined to become fabrial-slaves soon, and the not-bonded spren will want to save their comrades. Bonus points if you can destroy that notorious band of war criminals and slavers known as Bridge Four, and their evil leader Notable Jerkface Kaladin Storm"blessed". 1
Frustration Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Intriguing mission. 1 minute ago, Aliroz-The-Confused said: Bonus points if you can destroy that notorious band of war criminals and slavers known as Bridge Four, and their evil leader Notable Jerkface Kaladin Storm"blessed". Yeah I'm not touching that one. He could one shot my entire bloodline in the time it took me to breathe. Our problem starts with getting inside of Urithiru which is inside a massive crystal shield. Fortunately we have the Nightwatcher on our side. I will ask for two things: The ability to create Elsegates A Shardblade. Ideally I'd just become an Elsecaller, but I'm guessing that's off limits. Now I just teleport inside the Tower, find Navani and cut my way in to kill her. Ideally all of this would be done at 3:45 AM to make sure everyone was asleep. Now what would Retribution do to the Sibling without a Bondsmith? No clue, but I'm Elsecalling off world so I don't have to find out. 2

Question: do we get to ask for boons from the Nightwatcher? Do they still come with curses? Are we limited to one (otherwise it might get broken pretty fast)? 1

No clue, but I'm Elsecalling off world so I don't have to find out. Option One: Have The Sibling transfer the bond to someone else, someone who isn't actively inventing new abominations against all goodness. Option Two: Upon consulting The Nightwatcher about the possibility of The Sibling dying, The Nightwatcher says "The last thought-scream, the last message my dear sibling shrieked into my awareness, was 'Ichosewrong Ichosewrong Ichosewrong killmekillmekillme death would be better than this, I can feel my mind going, I can feel my emotions changing, the sympathy, I'm not caring anymore about what I loved, I'm not remembering why it mattered to me, my convictions are fading, replaced by hers, help, I chose wrong, I should have chosen death, help me help me Nightwatcher help m-'. If you can free and save my sibling, do so. If oblivion is the only salvation... then it is not my choice, but The Sibling's.". Option Three: Assume we either don't know or don't care or, given that we think the good guys are the bad guys, assume we're either confused or working for Retribution impersonating the Nightwatcher to trick us into doing things that will sabotage his enemies and let him kill The Sibling, that the spren who are supporting us are Sja-anattified, and that the ghostbloods have their own sinister reasons for helping us, probably involving a last-second double cross where one of them bonds The Sibling and they control Urithiru. 17 minutes ago, Trusk'our said: *Herms and haws in a totally justified and sincerely arrogant fashion* Was not the Herald killing thread the one to kick it all off? Let's say it's either limited to one, OR, the first boon comes with one curse, the second boon comes with two curses (for a total of three), the third boon comes with three curses (for a total of six). In that case I can condense it down to one in either: I wish for the powers of a Fifth Ideal Elsecaller(Because if I'm getting cursed either way I might as well milk it for all its worth) or I wish for an Elsecaller Honorblade Either one will get the job done. Got it. Let's see, one boon is preferable. This is by far the most potent resource I have, so I need to use it wisely, preferably to give me some ability that is extremely hard to counter, allows me to enter the Sibling to assassinate Jasnah I mean Navani, and still work within the lines of Cosmere mechanics and the Nightwatcher's power. Let's go with an ability similar to Nomad's Skipping, but hopefully with a little more fine tuned control so that I can pop in, do what I need to, then pop out. If I can get a Shardblade somehow and take it with me I can use it to crack the amber shield Navani has. Actually, as the OP @Aliroz-The-Confused you should probably choose a fitting curse for me to go along with my Skipping power. Then I'll have to come up with a way to sidestep it. 14 minutes ago, Frustration said: Oh ho ho, I see how it is. Captain. 1

Let's call your ability Traversal. 19 minutes ago, Trusk'our said: Actually, as the OP @Aliroz-The-Confused you should probably choose a fitting curse for me to go along with my Skipping power. Then I'll have to come up with a way to sidestep it. The curse is that Traversal is about Connection as it relates to the connection between objects in different places. Or, in other words, the connection between a world and its sun/moon. In other words, it interacts with space, time, gravity, and fortune in bizarre ways, since you're basically using Fortune to trick the universe into thinking that the place you want to be is the place where you are and rubber-banding the distance between them by making and collapsing a connection between the two places, which interacts interestingly with how gravity is the mechanism by which worlds move, so you fall in a random direction once you get there. In a nutshell, you can traverse to anywhere (with axon-width precision, exactly your desired location), but you immediately get launched in a random direction and go SPLAT all slapstick-like. It's always painful, disorienting, loud, and leaves you momentarily dizzy (during which moment you have hallucinations of Aviar orbiting your head). If there are valuables, sharp objects, cactuses, wet paint, or glass, you will go SPLAT into them. Edited February 12 by Aliroz-The-Confused 1

So basically I just have to make sure I teleport to a place that is utterly safe or I die unless I have a form of regeneration. Interesting. I'll have to aim for a nearby janitor's closet then, since there isn't as much (immediately) dangerous stuff in there. Actually, a bit off topic, but does the Sibling need janitors to clean their insides? Or is that job automatic for them as well? Anyways, I'll also want to expect a bit of recouperation time after Traversing to get in the Tower and I will want to set up a cushioned saferoom beforehand for my return so I can escape whenever I feel the need to.

Can my boon be to: WoT Spoilers Spoiler Channel a cleansed saidin as strong as Logain. And also have perfect mastery over it, including knowing all the weaves and stuff, including Balefire. That should handle it quickly, assuming my banes aren’t too terrible. WoT Spoilers Spoiler Travel to whatever room Navani’s in, balefire anyone nearby, then balefire Navani. If the shield somehow blocks the balefire, then travel inside the shield thing and then balefire Navani. Real answer: Boon: Elsecaller honorblade and ability to use lifelight by eating stuff. Then same as Frustration and Trusk’our, just cut my way through and stab. If she heals with towerlight, stab her again. Edited February 12 by Qianweilian
