Kobold King he/him Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Somebody has to ship all of our crazy ships. Hmmmm....Epics age more slowly anyway, so maybe this one ages so slowly he's been a child since Calamity rose? And maybe he passively gifts this to any non-Epic in his vicinity, while the child Epics already age much more slowly and so remain children and young teens? How much more slowly do Epics age? We don't really have any solid examples in canon. We know Steelheart's hair was greying, but we don't know how old he was when he got his powers. That said, I love that ability. Would that be the Pan Epic? I'd definitely support Epic!Pan stopping people from aging in his vicinity. Other must-have abilities would be flight, enhanced speed, and enhanced hand-eye coordination. Perhaps his powers only function when he feels a connection to some sort of maternal figure, as a nod to Pan's fascination with Wendy in the classic novel? (I still think Epic!Pan should be Blackwave the Terrible's archnemesis, by the way.) 2

Maybe if we wanted to go the creepy route, he could be hunting for the perfect "mother." Which might very well lead him straight to Mommy. Though it would definitely be creepier if that maternal figure was a vanilla, like Mrs. Trattner. (Yes yes yes! ) 1
Fatebreaker he/him Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) Expect an eventual reference to a gang of child Epics called the Lost Ones. (Which would actually be kind of neat, especially if they wanted Sandman to join.) Where would the Lost Ones live, though? Would there be a Peter Pan Epic presiding over them? Is there a temporal Epic among them that keeps anything from aging within the town they've made their territory? I'm totally down for this. I've already thought up several Lost Boy Epics. Sandman would totally join these guys. But it would be kind of a bummer, because Fade would have to be dead. Or maybe they get separated and Sandman believes Fade's dead, but in reality Fade survived. The Lost should live on an Island off the coast of Oregon. I don't think there are any large enough in the real world, but perhaps one was made by an Epic and they now inhabit it. And yes, they should totally be the epic!pirates' enemies. Fatebreaker he/him Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) Some Lost Ones Rufio: Flight, Enhanced Speed and Reflexes. And Firebending! (get the joke anyone?) Nibs: Can create a physical avatar around himself. It is always an animal. Grants him the abilities of that animal. Toodles: can create projectiles, for bows, slingshots, blowguns, etc. Can imbue them with different properties, like explosiveness. Can create fruit, which is most certainly a projectile. Especially mangoes.(another reference. c'mon, I have faith in you guys!) The Twins: Both can make Duplicates of themselves. They gain any knowledge or information their "dupes" gain. If they mess with Lucentia, the Financier would like them (though wouldn't dare admit it). Maybe he gave them their island back before Lucentia had Mary torture him into compliance, perhaps building the island by multiplying dirt particles and other island materials exponentially until they had themselves a nice little island? If it happened before Lucentia arrived in Astoria, there would be no reason for her to connect the Financier to the island of Epic children.

Newan he/him Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I would like to join the Oregon RP eventually, if that's ok. However, I'm very far behind. I've only read up to Aug 22. So it would be a long time before I joined. Are you guys alright with someone joining in after the story has already been running for months and months? If it's already too crowded and you prefer I don't join, that's fine. 1

If it's already too crowded and you prefer I don't join, that's fine. Of course we don't mind Plenty of other players joined well after the start date, so it's perfectly fine. The best place to start would currently be The Dalles. It's where we're recommending new players start, since it hasn't been going as long (and the plan seems to be destroying Portland with the oncoming war, so there wouldn't be a ton of action there afterward). However, there was also some talk of starting an Astoria thread sometime in the future, so if/when that happens, there would be another start point for you. It's super awesome of you to read the entire Portland thread first (because it's seriously long...heh) but if you want a summary, ask anyone you like. Though Seonid wrote perhaps the finest (and funniest) summary a ways back, and I would link to it if I were not currently typing this from my phone. When you're ready, PM me your character bio and weakness, if you'll be using an Epic. I'd also recommend posting the bio here before adding it to the Epics of Oregon thread. There are a lot of strong writers in this game, and they'll be able to give you some input to help make a stronger character. (It's still happening with my characters, and I've been writing them for a while.) And welcome.
mail-mi he/him Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I think I know where Mommy is going to go after/before the CorpseMaker war
Newan he/him Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Awesome, thanks! I'll post the bios for two of my epics. I have others in the back of my mind, but they aren't as rounded out yet. Lillian Razor, Epic Hunter Lillian is an Epic Hunter for three reasons: (1) She hunts epics. (2) She is an epic who hunts. (3) It is epic when she hunts. Unlike others like Prof or Sightline, she isn't killing epics for altrustic reasons. More on that later. Appearance: Lillian is reflective, like a mirror. Even her eyes and hair are reflective. It's slightly unsettling until you are used to it. Power: Reflection (Passive). She can reflect anything. Lasers, heat attacks, and projectiles just bounce off. Even abstract attacks like Deathpoint would be reflected. This power makes physics cry. She can reflect cold attacks. When someone punches her, the force that would go into her is reflected back into the fist. Because there was already supposed to be an equal and opposite reaction, the force going back at the fist is twice what it should be. When she punches something, double the force is applied and she feels nothing. Weakness: This is too important to her character to withhold. Her weakness is her son, Bobby Razor. As every elementary school child knows, if you step on a crack, it will break your mother's back. Soon after Calamity turned Lillian into the mirror epic, Bobby stepped onto a crack in the sidewalk. Cracks appeared all up and down Lillian's back. Any attack to Lillian's back would kill her. It took seven years for those cracks to heal. Lillian isn't going to let that happen again. Ever since that fateful day, Bobby has been strapped to a chair suspended five feet off the ground in the basement of the Razor home. She does her best to give him a comfortable life. Bobby has never lacked food, movies, books, or video games in his life. But he also hasn't seen the sun, or talked to anyone besides his mother, in seven years. Lillian hunts epics because her powers are passive. Someone has to attack her for her to feel like an Epic. And Epics don't feel guilt. Blastaway, Agent of Chaos. Blastaway's default setting is unhappy. Even before he became an Epic, nobody had ever seen him smile. Then one day, he was surrounded by warm red light. Something inside him changed, and he knew that there was something that could bring him peace: Chaos. Appearance: He's something like 21 years old, he always has dark bags under his eyes, and his hair is light gray. Imagine Nico from Percy Jackson and the Olympians, but older and with different hair. Power: Self-Destruction. Blastaway can explode. If he charges up for a larger explosion, he starts to glow red, then white. Passive power: Resurrection. Blastaway might be the most skilled resurrector in the world. If he is concentrating pre-mortem, he can choose where he resurrects within a 4 mile radius. If death sneaks up on him, the location of his resurrection is random. When he resurrects, he does not suffer from confusion, memory loss, extra personalities, or increased craziness. He just reverts to being extremely unhappy again. It makes character growth a little bit difficult. Together he can use these powers as a very explody teleportation. 4

Although, what does "attack" mean, in Lillian's case? Does it have to be something like a bullet or a knife, could it be a punch or a kick, or would a gentle fist-bump between her shoulder blades do the job? (Additionally, does she wear protective armor over her back?) With Blastaway, how large is his blast radius? Can he control it, and if so, is the force automatically concentrated, or can he create smaller explosions? (For instance, could he blow up just a priceless Ming vase without harming anything nearby, or would the force of a larger explosion be concentrated within that Ming vase and cause the entire building to explode with the vase as its epicenter?) Also, any objections to having them ponified? (Silly question. They'll be ponified, objections or not. ) 1
Kobold King he/him Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Also, any objections to having them ponified? (Silly question. They'll be ponified, objections or not. ) Until we can figure out how to make reflective ponies in the creator, Lillian at least is ponification-proof.

mail-mi he/him Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 So whose character is Pan going to be?
Fatebreaker he/him Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) Close Kb. The joke is that the actor who played Rufio also was the voice actor for Zuko in Avatar TLA. The Other joke was a Peter and the Starcatchers reference. If the group as a whole were powerful or unassailable enough, she might decide it's better to tolerate them (and complain heartily about them) than to waste time and resources extirpating them. There's a simple solution. We just have to make all of the Lost Boys, Epic. We'll just give them more powers and add more boys to their ranks. Lucentia thinks she can crush 'em easily? She's sorely mistaken. And off topic, since we're calling them the Lost Ones, or just The Lost, there could be girls or aliens in the ranks. For example: Tiger Lilly: Extreme Accuracy and Stealth. She can hit targets with almost anything she throws, shoots, or otherwise launches with unerring accuracy. She can activate a stealth mode, making her completely silent and nearly impossible to spot. Can gift this ability. And I would like to do Pan, but I'm willing to defer if someone else really wants to. Molly: Weakness Detection. She can seek out the weaknesses of Epics. A sixth sense will guide her towards it if it is physical. Motive or intent weaknesses are tricky. She must have something to write with and a surface to write on, then concentrate extremely hard. She can then draw pictures, but she doesn't know what they mean and they must be deciphered. Edited December 1, 2014 by Fatebreaker 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) Until we can figure out how to make reflective ponies in the creator, Lillian at least is ponification-proof. I don't know; the creator lets you use silver. That's close enough. Wow, I really like both of those. Where do you plan on using them? Twi, would these two be too OP for the Dalles? Since The Dalles is currently under siege by an army of pandas, with three powerful adult Epics and one child Epic on their way, I'm going to say Lillian at least isn't too OP for The Dalles. Blastaway may be too OP—for now, at least. I have a feeling things are going to change in The Dalles after the panda invasion. I know the Astoria thread was still just talk at this point, though it's beginning to look like more of a serious plan. I'd need to see Blastaway in action to judge how OP he is; if he's too OP for The Dalles, we could always talk to Edgedancer and see how soon is too soon to start the Astoria thread. (The biggest snarl there is that Lucentia, who rules there, is currently subjecting Portland to her incessant complaining. If Edge didn't have any objections, I think someone mentioned starting the Astoria thread while Lucentia is absent and focusing on a few outside plots and court intrigue. Since he writes for the Queen, though, it'd be up to him when the thread starts.) But the characters we have for Astoria are all a little OP anyway, so if Blastaway is too OP for The Dalles, he might be a better fit for Astoria. Edit: Molly: Weakness Detection. Even if the hints she has are pretty obscure, that power might be game-breaking. (And I'm not sure how canon it is, either.) And even if it were neither, there would be wars started over this girl as Epics like Steelheart tried to recruit someone who could just know their opponents' weaknesses. Maybe something like strength detection—she can determine how strong an Epic's powers are and how much of a threat they might be? Edited December 1, 2014 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles 1
mail-mi he/him Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 When the Astoria thread starts, I have an idea of how to introduce the Lost Ones: In the Portland thread, one of Mommy's children can run away and become Epic, and either they have something that can detect child Epics, or (s)he can happen upon them. 1
Mailliw73 he/him Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 What if we started Astoria and the shenanigans that go on there (Lost Ones, Blackwave, Destructors, etc.) are what bring her back to her kingdom? (queendom?)
