Dang why is everyone so excited about stamps?

I'd wager almost certainly yes, but keep in mind that carving time isn't the only factor. He(or his spren) still has to be has to be very well versed in the magic in order to shape it right, and it still won't necessarily make the wanted effect first try. (Even what's her name wasn't close to geting some fairly simple things first try, and the book said she was the third best(don't remember if ever or just currently alive)). It would def. be faster than Shai doing it, but I can't really imagine Hoid doing this in front of anyone else, just due to the likelyhood of it failing and embarrassing him. Feels like he'd rather use

Spilers for whichever book whoever is reading this hasn't read

Spoiler

lightweaving(either kind) or allomancy or awakening or midnight spores or Dor(he got that in Tress, right?) or maybe even dawnshard if he can, since they feel like less likely to break his I-know-everything illusion

But I could totally see Khriss mastering this (or making IsaacNazh) and pulling it off

@First of the Tide- the reason everyone’s excited about stamps is that… here, I’ll give you a few examples. You could, if you knew enough about stamps, literally just fix up anything broken without materials, make a leaky window into a beautiful stained glass window, make gold into lead, or disguise a noble horse as a haggard donkey.

Could someone, presumably Hoid, summon a Shardblade as a soulstamp after using Connection tricks to Connect to MaiPon? It would allow for an instant carve time.

I think Shai (or any other Forger) bonding a spren would be a more straightforward option than Hoid learning how to forge a soulstamp and force a Connection to MaiPon.

This feels like one of those things where Brandon would say it's technically possible, but it would be very difficult to pull off.

Not his actual omniscience. Just make the people around him think he's less all-knowing/all powerful (because it's so easy to screw up on the first try)

I mean, Hoid was the Imperial Fool, so he’s already been to MaiPon. Since he planned a theft with Shai, he probably Connected to the land already so he could speak their language.

Ooh I'm glad you brought that up. Because he also has the Moon Scepter. We aren't certain what the scepter does, but Brandon said it's some kind of Rosetta Stone for Sel's magic systems (WoB). I wonder if it could serve as some kind of shortcut to get around learning the nuances of Soulstamping? Maybe allow him to achieve a similar effect to Soulstamping but with Aons? Sort of like coding in a high-level language instead of a low-level one.

The Emperor's Soul  is a really strong novella that makes Forging the invested art with the best explored sense of "What is it like to do that?" of anything in the setting. It is probably also the only book Sanderson has written where a critical reader would say "You maybe should have expanded this some more", which of course means people want to see more of certain elements of the story.

Hoid doesn't mind looking foolish at all. He's a jester by trade, going back to before he existed (as Hoid), when he was Topaz in Dragonsteel Prime.

Okay, but there's a difference between people thinking that you're looking dumb intentionally, and people actually thinking you're dumb. I think there's a WoB about how embarrassed he was during tress, since everyone actually thought he was dumb (might be misremembering/misinterpretting, I can't find it)
