Adonalsium Will Return He/him Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 So, would the fabrial for this use gravitationspren? I assume so.
First of the Tide He/him Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. (Mistborn Era 2 Spoilers ) Spoiler I imagine that this would instead be some kind of combo between unkeyed metal minds and windrunning. Also, I'm under the impression that the type of spren is only one of many factors, and metals, shape, and type of gemstones are more important. It feels like it also might be used with some gyroscope-esque device and something similar to the way spanreeds work, with the rubies. curious, did you hear this somewhere, or just an idea that popped into your head?
Adonalsium Will Return He/him Posted December 11, 2025 Author Posted December 11, 2025 Just an idea. I mean, flamespren are in heating fabrials.

I imagine there's multiple ways to create it and using gravitation spren is one of them. It depends on what is the easiest to create, and your idea is likely more plausible. I thought it was a quote from TSM or IED, and so immediately started theorizing connections. Also I was moderately wrong, cut and gem type affect which spren you can attract, not the function of the gem directly. very plausible that you're right.
Jult Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 The "cage" would be important too. Quote "With a captured spren, you may begin designing a proper fabrial. It is a closely guarded secret of artifabrians that spren, when trapped, respond to different types of metals in different ways. A wire housing for the fabrial, called a “cage,” is essential to controlling the device." -RoW Chapter 6 For example, the cages of heating fabrials are constructed from Pewter because applying Pewter to a gemstone containing a spren amplifies certain aspects of that spren's nature. My guess is an anti-gravity fabrial would use a gravitationspren and a Tin cage (Tin has the opposite effect of Pewter - it diminishes attributes associated with the spren). Painrials are made from Tin and Painspren, for example. 12 minutes ago, First of the Tide said: Also I was moderately wrong, cut and gem type affect which spren you can attract, not the function of the gem directly. very plausible that you're right. You might not be as wrong as you think. The gems found in the Urithiru gem archive were cut specially so that they vibrated in specific patterns when infused with Stormlight. In this instance, they were used for encoded messages. But I wouldn't be surprised if this could have some kind of fabrial-adjacent usage. You could create a CD-player of sorts where specially cut gems are the 'CDs' (or CG's I suppose). Being able to encode data like this could also be important to very high-tech fabrials in the far future of the Cosmere. 1
Adonalsium Will Return He/him Posted December 11, 2025 Author Posted December 11, 2025 I forgot about the cages- good point!
Through the living Wahr He/Him Posted December 15, 2025 Posted December 15, 2025 Its also possible that Rosharan Antigravity is a new kind of surge fabriall, utilising the surge of Gravitation. We know that Transformation, Transportation and Progression Fabrials exist, (Soul Caster, Oathgate and Regrowth Fabrial) so I dont think its a stretch to say that other surge fabrials would be possible.
Adonalsium Will Return He/him Posted December 15, 2025 Author Posted December 15, 2025 (edited) @Wahrheitswächter- a surge fabrial is possible, too. I didn’t think of that. However, it is written, can’t remember where, that surge fabrials require a spren, and I feel like that wouldn’t be mass produced. Edited December 15, 2025 by Ookla the Returned typo
