GUESS WHO GOT OUT OF HER EXHAUSTION STOOP LONG ENOUGH TO WRITE THE NEXT PART

(Sorry if its not the best, like I said, exhausted)

Spoiler

With the arrival of the doors, the voices of the void seemed to grow angry. They surrounded Aspen, shrieking out words that he could not hear. They weigh down upon him, like they are trying to keep him away from the doors…like they wanted him to stay.

Overcome by terror, because of the voices or at the prospect of being stuck here, he didn’t know, Aspen dashed through the door on the right, glowing with that brilliant bronze light.

Crossing the threshold, Aspen was momentarily blinded by the light of whatever magic made up the door. Adjusting to the change, Aspen found himself in the entrance hall of what appeared to be a…castle? Usually, Aspen would call this impossible – the last castles were destroyed by the people of ancient Corrotto. They were seen as a symbol of oppression under the Corrupted Ones, so they were torn down, their stones used to build the Citadels of Chimerion and Fenixas.

However, upon reflection of the situation he found himself in, Aspen decided to remove “impossible” from his vocabulary.

The hall was vast, built out of that same dark, glistening stone that made up the temple he is now regretting exploring. Spires held up great arches that separated the main walkway from aisles that ran parallel to the left and right. The aisles were shrouded in a seemingly impenetrable darkness. Aspen got the feeling that something was watching him from that infinite blackness. The ceiling arched upwards, that same darkness shrouding its meeting point.

A purple carpet sat plush beneath his feet, leading down the central portion of the hall to a raised dais at the end. Two doorways leading into that same impenetrable darkness stood open on both sides of the dais. Three pedestals stood, proud and central, upon the dais. Walking closer, Aspen noticed on each sat an item.

On the one to the left, an ornate dagger sat, glowing with a faint silvery light.

The central pedestal held a spiked, silver crown. A purple light gleamed from it.

To the right sat a medallion with the ancient Fenixal word for “balance” carved into the face. It glowed with a pale golden light.

Which artifact does he take?

Next part of this epic and increasingly random adventure Aspen finds himself on

Why is writing so difficult?

Spoiler

Aspen walks to the central pedestal and takes the crown. Gingerly, he places it upon his head.

The crown shrinks around Aspen’s head. White hot pain flashes through his skull and Aspen doubles over clawing at his forehead.

After a moment, Aspen feels hands wrap around his wrists and gently pull his hands away from his head. The pain vanishes and, slowly, Aspen opens his eyes. As he does, the phantom hands vanish.

A purple hue covers his vision, and he sees.

Instead of darkness shrouding the hall, Aspen finds it bright. White, purple, and gold magics swirl throughout the chamber in an almost playful manner. Looking closely at the rock of the walls, Aspen can pick out…constellations?

The aisles, now revealed, have doorways lining them. Each glow with one of the three magics, white, purple, or gold, in an almost random pattern.

Before him, Aspen finds that the dais has shifted. Instead of the three pedestals, Aspen opens his eyes to branching staircases.

The one leading to the left is lined with a deep green carpet. From the doorway it leads too, Aspen gets a sense of natural life and change.

To the right, the staircase is lined with a carpet of faint grey. The doorway it leads to gives Aspen the impression of discovery and knowledge.

Which staircase does he follow?
