Question

Hi,

I was wondering what would happen if someone would use a God metal in fabrial? Would it be posible to create a fabrial that would show future of all items around it? Or use Lerasium an give powers of Mistborn to everyone next to it?

I'll use spoiler tags, since we do not yet know what you may or may not have read - Stormlight Archive and Mistborn Spoilers:

We've already seen a Godmetal in Fabrials - the Fused's daggers that conduct Light in one direction are Fabrials using Raysium (Odium's Godmetal).

That said, the Properties of Metals are not all based their Allomantic Properties (A-Tin and F-Tin are similar, but A-Bronze and F-Bronze are not really related at all. Fabrial Bronze is Simialr to Seeking, but still not quite teh same because it has to be calibrated to "seek" one thing, and even then has not yet been shown to provide direction - only proximity.

So, the Fabrial Properties of Lerasium or Atium will not necessarily be tied to their Allomantic Properties. WoBs:

Are spores and fabrials affected by God Metals?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

Yes, the severity depends on which God Metal.

Questioner

In the first epigraphs in Rhythm of War, we get Navani's lecture on the different metals, and it talks about how the different metals can do different things to fabrials. Have all of the 16 metals in Allomancy been tried in relation to fabrials?

Brandon Sanderson

No.

Questioner

Have they discovered any others with different effects?

Brandon Sanderson

Any others that she didn't talk about? I don't know. I'm gonna say no, but it's possible that there's one I'm not thinking of. Let's just say that certain people in the cosmere are very aware of this now, and are very quickly experimenting with the metals Navani is not able to get a hold of easily.

Treamayne, are the clock fabrials just some sort of machine that they call a fabrial? or are they made with cadmium or bendalloy?

Unlikely. Also, I think a Cadmium or Bendalloy cage would alter the way a Fabrial Clock works, not standardize it enough to be a reliable timepiece. The Navani Sketch also does not show any metallic cages in the watch portion of the vambrace.

Unfortunately, the most we have so far is the RoW Ch 15  Epigraph:

Spoiler
"Logicspren react curiously to imprisonment. Unlike other spren, they do not manifest some attribute—you cannot use them to make heat, or to warn of nearby danger, or conjoin gemstones. For years, artifabrians considered them useless—indeed, experimenting with them was uncommon, since logicspren are rare and difficult to capture.

A breakthrough has come in discovering that logicspren will vary the light they radiate based on certain stimuli. For example, if you make the Light leak from the gemstone at a controlled rate, the spren will alternate dimming and brightening in a regular pattern. This has led to fabrial clocks. When the gemstone is tapped with certain metals, the light will also change states from bright to dim. This is leading to some very interesting and complex mechanisms."

So, a Smokestone with a LogicSpren pulsing in a reliable rhythm. From a technological perspective, once you have a reliable mechanical method of ticking seconds, the rest of clock creation follows.

Hope that helps
