Trusk'our he/him Posted October 25, 2025 Posted October 25, 2025 In YatNP, Design tells us that while Investiture responds to everyone's thoughts to a degree, highly Invested people have an even greater influence. This makes me wonder, if an Awakener traveled to Roshar, would their perception and awareness be more "weighted" and potentially override local perception when it comes to influencing Spren? For example, a wealthy Nalthian merchant who's bought their way to the third Heightening decides to hop over to Roshar so they can enjoy viewing the local gigantic macrofauna- while rooting out new trading partners, of course. They travel with a small entourage of about fifty people (all with 1 BEU to their name), mostly servants and guards. The merchant is Idrian and holds firmly to their customs and beliefs (conveniently ignoring their own people's views of Breath transference), while the rest of the group is Hallandren, holding to their own customs. Would any nearby Lesser Spren be pushed to fit the perception of the merchant more than everyone else? There's roughly six times the Investiture there, though only one-fiftieth the minds. Another thought- could this enhanced force of perception Invested people have correlate with Command Breaking? Perhaps a stronger Awakener uses this mechanism to override the imprint left by another. It would also be interesting to know if this mechanism is why Vessel's subconscious views filter their Shard. For example, Sazed may not becable to consciously dilute Hemalurgy's influence, as Khriss believes in TLM Ars Arcanum, but his perception ripples outward through Ruin regardless.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how similar are the processes of Command-Breaking a Lifeless and Unmaking? 2. Is there more going on behind the scenes when an Allomancer burns pewter? I suspect that the process triggers a "mind over matter" state, where the user's desires are made manifest, albeit in a limited way. If so, can a pewter burner alter their Physical appearance, similar to a Returned (provided they knew they could and had access to enough pewter)? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) 1. 7 they are similar 2a. That is a valid theory. On the right track. 2b. Possible in theory FanX 2022 (Sept. 22, 2022) I guess we don't really know much about the Unmaking process, though. 2
Nitpicking Posted October 25, 2025 Posted October 25, 2025 Both Scadrians (extra Preservation) and Nalthians (extra Endowment) have more Investiture than humans from other worlds like Roshar or Threnody.
