Hey, i was wondering is anyone could explain to me a bit more on how Elantris works with all of this Cosmere stuff. Is Aon Dor a shard? How does this book fit into all of this stuff? Also, i have seen emperor's soul bunched up with Elantris, why? How are those two books similar? Thanks!

- I have read all of the cosmere books so don't worry about spoilers to me.

Elantris and The Emperor's Soul take place on the same planet, Sel, which is why they are frequently lumped together.  There are a few Easter eggs in TES from Elantris such as Atsuko (the sick painter) is from Jindo, which is where Shuden's family is from; Shai runs into (literally) a Derethi gyorn during her escape; Shai carves an Aon Reo in the place of the painting she steals at the very end; and Shai also thinks about how her guards will probably stationed at the pass to the "distant Teoish peninsula".

Sel was home to two Shards, Devotion and Dominion, both of whom were killed and Splintered long before the events of the books.  The Dor is commonly believed to be the uncontrolled power of the two Shards.  AonDor is a magic system that is powered by the Dor, as is Forgery.

Does that make sense?

Anyway, welcome to the forums!

Try to post topics in the appropriate sub-forums where possible rather than just posting them all in the intro thread, just because while spoilers might not matter to you anyone else who's new might get a nasty surprise.

Sel (The planet that Elantris and Emperor's soul are set on) was home to two shards, Devotion and Dominion, which were held by Aona and Skai respectively, rereading The Way of Kings may reveal some Easter Eggs about this.

Same Universe, different planets. I am new to all this stuff (just finished the Mistborn original trilogy after reading Elantris) but I know that much.
