Sythrin Posted August 11, 2025 Posted August 11, 2025 I am currently reading a book, where a character has perfect control over their body, down to a molecular level. Its not enirely explored in my opinion. But that person has, perfect memory, perfect coordination, has infused their muscles with carbon over years of injection. Has increased their bone density to a high level. There are some over things. Like growing bone armor from injection hogh lethel dosages of calcium and magnaesium or shooting blood like a watersaw. How much could a Kandra copy that?

How much could a Kandra copy that? Nowhere near to the same extent. Kandra can't make their own bones for starters or even fix theirs if they get broken. Though there is still a lot Kandra can do besides just shapeshifting into whatever creatures they eat, for example something MeLaan did for Marashi in Bands of Mourning was drink a drop of her blood, and make a skin graft for Marasi out of her own DNA so her body wouldn't reject it. So, there's some potential there. Memory and coordination? I think they'll need a Copper Blessing for that, though they don't have a centralized brain like humans, so maybe they might be able to figure out how to expand their brains throughout their bodies to increase their brainpower even without a Copper Blessing? Would probably make them a bit more vulnerable though, since they can have their main brain in a safe place inside their bodies but if it's too big then it'd be easier to get a brain shot on them. We know they can expand their muscles to increase their bulk, even without an Iron Blessing, so there's that. They could probably form more than just a single pair of eyes, maybe design a special skull so they can literally have eyes on the back of their head? 1
hephaestus Posted September 6, 2025 Posted September 6, 2025 I've been on a Sanderbender this last, erm, month, and had some similar though not identical thoughts on the topic. The main one I was pondering was if a kandra could take a couple of partial skeletons and make something completely new. We already see the mistwraiths making bodies with a larger than normal number of limbs, so if you had a horse skeleton and a human skeleton, could a kandra make a reasonable facsimile of a mythological centaur? I will fully admit that I have absolutely no idea how closely the cervical vertebrae of a horse match up to the sacral vertebrae of a human. If the mismatch is too great, perhaps a koloss skeleton? Those presumably get larger...
