Right, some time ago I discovered that ChatGPT is cracked at writing raps. So, naturally, I thought that Hoid’s letter to Frost in TWoK epigraphs would work great. So I did that. I had it make many more. I did 7. We’ll start with the letter, I’ll add the response if ppl are interested.

Spoilered for length, Each phrase gets a box for simplicity’s sake.

Spoiler

Old friend, I hope this missive finds you well. Though, as you are now essentially immortal, I would guess that wellness on your part is something of a given.

I realize that you are probably still angry. That is pleasant to know. Much as your perpetual health, I have come to rely upon your dissatisfaction with me. It is one of the cosmere's great constants, I should think.

————————————

Yo, old friend, hope this letter finds you chillin’ in your cave,
Immortal as the myths you hoard, with time you never age.
I figure you're still mad, and that’s kinda sweet,
Like your grudge is a rhythm, got that never-miss beat.

Spoiler

Let me first assure you that the element is quite safe. I have found a good home for it. I protect its safety like I protect my own skin, you might say.

You do not agree with my quest. I understand that, so much as it is possible to understand someone with whom I disagree so completely

————

The element’s safe — don’t sweat, it’s locked tight,
Guard it like my skin in the deepest dead night.
Yeah, I know you hate the path I roam,
But I chase truth, not thrones, and I walk alone.

Spoiler

Might I be quite frank? Before, you asked why I was so concerned. It is for the following reason:

Ati was once a kind and generous man, and you saw what became of him. Rayse, on the other hand, was among the most loathsome, crafty, and dangerous individuals I had ever met.

——————

Now let me be real, no spin, no disguise,
You asked why I care, so I’ll tell you why:
Ati was kind, once light in his soul,
Now he’s ashes and echoes, consumed by the hole.

Rayse? That beast been a monster from the jump,
Crafty and cruel, man, his power’s a dump
Of pure hate — the worst of us all,
With the Shard that can break every star, make 'em fall.

Spoiler

He holds the most frightening and terrible of all the Shards. Ponder on that for a time, you old reptile, and tell me if your insistence on nonintervention holds firm. Because I assure you, Rayse will not be similarly inhibited.

One need only look at the aftermath of his brief visit to Sel to see proof of what I say.

In case you have turned a blind eye to that disaster, know that Aona and Skai are both dead, and that which they held has been Splintered. Presumably to prevent anyone from rising up to challenge Rayse.

—————

He ain’t bound by your codes, don’t expect restraint,
Look at Sel — divine blood in the dirt, no complaint.
Aona, Skai — both shattered, gone,
Like notes of a song that’ll never play on.

Spoiler

You have accused me of arrogance in my quest. You have accused me of perpetuating my grudge against Rayse and Bavadin. Both accusations are true.

Neither point makes the things I have written to you untrue.

—————

You call me arrogant — yeah, that shoe fits,
And yeah, it’s a grudge — I don’t back from these hits.
But facts are facts, and the truth I spit,
Even if I’m bitter, I don’t counterfeit.

Spoiler

I am being chased. Your friends of the Seventeenth Shard, I suspect. I believe they're still lost, following a false trail I left for them. They'll be happier that way. I doubt they have any inkling what to do with me should they actually catch me.

If anything I have said makes a glimmer of sense to you, I trust that you'll call them off. Or maybe you could astound me and ask them to do something productive for once.

—————

I’m on the run, got the Seventeenth close,
But they’re chasin’ shadows — I’m a ghost with a toast:
If you got any wisdom left, call 'em back,
Or better — send ‘em here with a plan and a map.

Spoiler

For I have never been dedicated to a more important purpose, and the very pillars of the sky will shake with the results of our war here. I ask again. Support me. Do not stand aside and let disaster consume more lives. I've never begged you for something before, old friend.

I do so now.

—————

‘Cause this is it — the war that’ll shake the skies,
Where legends burn and empires die.
I never begged, but I drop to my knees,
Ask you now — fight with me, please.

So, full rap:

WoR epigraph, Frost’s Response

Spoiler

I’ll address this letter to my "old friend," as I have no idea what name you're using currently.

Have you given up on the gemstone, now that it is dead? And do you no longer hide behind the name of your old master? I am told that in your current incarnation you’ve taken a name that references what you presume to be one of your virtues.

This is, I suspect, a little like a skunk naming itself for its stench.

—————

Yo, "old friend," what name you wear now?
Still hiding in the shadows of your former vow?
I’m told you’ve picked one that reflects your pride,
Like a skunk named for stench—don’t try to hide.

Spoiler

Now, look what you've made me say. You've always been able to bring out the most extreme in me, old friend. And I do still name you a friend, for all that you weary me.

————

Look at what you've done, you've got me spittin' mad,
You always bring out the worst in me, good or bad.
Still, I name you a friend, though weary I remain,
I’m done with your chaos, it’s all been in vain.

Spoiler

Yes, I'm disappointed. Perpetually, as you put it.

Is not the destruction we have wrought enough? The worlds you now tread bear the touch and design of Adonalsium. Our interference so far has brought nothing but pain.

—————

Perpetually disappointed, yeah, I guess you’re right,
But don’t tell me you're out here fightin' the good fight.
Destruction’s our legacy, what more can we do?
The worlds you walk on — they’re stained through and through.

Spoiler

My path has been chosen very deliberately. Yes, I agree with everything you have said about Rayse, including the severe danger he presents.

————

You’re out here scheming, chasing your twisted quest,
But you never learn, you don’t seem to rest.
Rayse is the danger — yeah, I’ll give you that,
But you’re just a toddler playin’ with a lion’s hat.

Spoiler

However, it seems to me that all things have been set up for a purpose, and if we—as infants—stumble through the workshop, we risk exacerbating, not preventing, a problem.

Rayse is captive. He cannot leave the system he now inhabits. His destructive potential is, therefore, inhibited.

Whether this was Tanavast's design or not, millennia have passed without Rayse taking the life of another of the sixteen. While I mourn for the great suffering Rayse has caused, I do not believe we could hope for a better outcome than this.

He bears the weight of God's own divine hatred, separated from the virtues that gave it context. He is what we made him to be, old friend. And that is what he, unfortunately, wished to become.

—————

You say you’re fixing it, but you’re just in the way,
Like an infant in a shop of gods, breakin’ things all day.
Rayse’s locked up, trapped in his system tight,
He can’t leave, can’t harm, so why start this fight?

You mourn for the damage, but what can we do?
He’s the force we made — our hands are stained too.
Divine hatred’s his crown, it's what he chose,
Now he’s a shell of what he once was — but that’s how it goes.

Spoiler

I suspect that he is more a force than an individual now, despite your insistence to the contrary. That force is contained, and an equilibrium reached.

—————

I don’t think you see it, you’re blinded by rage,
The balance we seek is just one more stage.
Rayse is contained, that’s the cosmic truth,
And we’re better off quiet than raising the roof.

Spoiler

You, however, have never been a force for equilibrium. You tow chaos behind you like a corpse dragged by one leg through the snow. Please, hearken to my plea. Leave that place and join me in my oath of nonintervention.

The cosmere itself may depend upon our restraint.

——————

You’re chaos, Hoid, always messin’ with the flow,
Like a corpse dragged behind you through a blizzard’s snow.
Take a step back, maybe leave it be,
The cosmere’s at stake — don’t make this decree.

So hear my plea, please heed my word,
Stop stirrin' the pot, let the storm be unheard.
Join me in this oath, restraint is key,
If we want to save this place, you gotta let it be.

@ChipsAHoidJust a heads up, I've moved this post to the Stormlight subforum. We'd prefer to keep AI out of our creative subforums, as a general rule.

Oh thanks, I was very unsure where to put this thing! Thanks for moving it to a more logical place

I'm generally agains the use of AI, but...

This is a masterpiece

I will not deny it

It would honestly fit great in a Cosmere musical

Oh I’ve been having ChatGPT work on that too…

For instance, Squadleader Kaladin stuff

“Stormblessed, Stormblessed,  Kaladin, go. Hold the line. Strike the blow.”

Or when he fights the Shardbearer:

Spoiler

Intro (low strings, heartbeat rhythm)

Kaladin (soft):
Dallet’s gone.
The wind is still.
They think I break.
But I kill.

Verse 1 (slow, precise)

They crown you in a god’s disguise,
Let children die to feed your pride.
You call this glory, call this right —
But I see corpses in your light.

You shine, you grin, you leave them torn —
And still they kneel, still they mourn.
But I don’t kneel, I plant my feet —
And I make war where others bleed.

There’s much more to this song, and a lot of others I’ve been working on out with, but that’s not relevant yet

I’ll make a thread for it later. But first:

Endowment, Oathbringer Epigraphs:

Spoiler

"Dearest Cephandrius,

I received your communication, of course."

"I noticed its arrival immediately, just as I noticed your many intrusions into my land."

"You think yourself so clever, but my eyes are not those of some petty noble, to be clouded by a false nose and some dirt on the cheeks."

————

Yo, Cephandrius, I got your letter, it's clear,
I seen it come through, yeah, I noticed it here.
You think you’re sly, but I’m wiser than that,
Not some noble’s eyes, I see through the act.

You think you're clever, try to play your hand,
But I know your moves, I see every strand.
Dirt on your cheek, a false nose in the mist,
But I’m no fool, I see past that twist.

Spoiler

"You mustn't worry yourself about Rayse. It is a pity about Aona and Skai, but they were foolish--violating our pact from the very beginning."

"Your skills are admirable, but you are merely a man. You had your chance to be more, and refused it."

———

Chorus:
Don't worry 'bout Rayse, he’s just part of the game,
Aona and Skai? They brought their own shame.
The pact was made clear, you should’ve known the deal,
Now you’re just a man, nothing more real.

Verse 2:

You had your chance, to rise, to transcend,
But you turned away, couldn't follow the trend.
Now you’re stuck in the dirt, can't be divine,
You let it slip, left the power behind.

Spoiler

"No good can come of two Shards settling in one location. It was agreed that we would not interfere with one another, and it disappoints me that so few of the Shards have kept to this original agreement."

———

Two Shards in one place? Nah, that’s a curse,
I warned them all, but they made it worse.
Breaking the pact? That’s where they went wrong,
They played the game, but they didn’t last long.

*repeat chorus*

Spoiler

"As for Uli Da, it was obvious from the outset that she was going to be a problem. Good riddance."

———

Verse 3:

Uli Da? Oh, don’t get me started,
Saw her coming, knew she’d be departed.
Problems on the rise, yeah, I knew she’d fall,
She tried to stand tall, but she didn’t stand at all.

Spoiler

"Regardless, this is not your concern. You turned your back on divinity. If Rayse becomes an issue, he will be dealt with. And so will you."

———

But none of this matters, it ain’t your fight,
You turned your back, now you’re outta sight.
Rayse? He’ll be dealt with, don’t you fret,
And if you cross me, I’ll handle you next.

*repeat chorus*

Outro:
So heed my words, Cephandrius, stay wise,
The world’s full of games, but I see through your lies.
I’m Endowment, and I’m handling mine,
You had your chance, now you’re outta time.

(Still have Autonomy, Harmony, Harmony again, and Endowment again to paste in, I might have it make more epigraphs, but only if there are more letters I find elsewhere in later books)
