BlueWildRye he/him Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 I know this has probably already been asked, but I was under the impression that when I liked a post, I gave the poster my own reputation? It sounds really dumb I know, but like for example, say I have 10 reputation and I like a post from somebody with 0 reputation. That person's reputation increases to 1, and mine goes down to 9. Once again, it doesn't make much sense when I think about it, but I've been afraid to rep people for the past year or so because I thought that was the case.

You have X amount of reputation every day, and you can give that away for free. It's just liking a post. Spoiler Where did you get that idea from?

That's the thing, I don't know where I got that idea from but the "X reputation every day" is interesting. What determines how much rep you get to spend each day?

The Sharder FAQ has a whole section on Reputation (aka Reactions). Current Limit is 20 per 24-hour period Formerly an "up arrow" in case you see that referenced in older threads The reasons and why somebody uses this tool for any given post are as varied as the number of people on the Shard Discussed here Reputation is based on these reactions, upon which your "Rank" is based - which is really just a fun in-joke of Sanderson references that you can achieve. Most recent rank list Gripe or Boast here More Titles (The fan initiative to brainstorm title ideas from Brandon's work - so it may be easier on Admins to update the titles list if they decide to do so in the future. Note: the "20 per 24hrs" is a rolling limit, if you Rep 5 times around 8 am local - go to work - come home and exhaust your limit before bed - then you will only have 5 available the next morning (not 6+) even though it is "the next day" - because this is a global community and rolling coverage is more equitable than some arbitrary time-zone reset. That makes so much more sense. 2
