Yeah they were abandoned, but they still did stuff before then. There are no Shards that don't yet have characters, if that's what you're after. But you can still play a mortal.

Well, we try, but nothing's guaranteed. I don't think there should be too much TLM, as Metallic Arts don't exist here and Autonomy is completely different. But WaT... well, there won't be plot spoilers, but there's some important lore stuff.

Also the name of the last Shard is revealed in WaT, which can't be avoided.

Endowment leaving threnody so suddenly doesn't really make a ton of sense with how she's been played. (Helicopter parent who wants to be left alone)

Could I make a mortal man who was created by the Shard of Devotion to be the most handsome, pretty, kind, agreeable, soft-spoken person ever?

Of course, this wouldn’t be a full success, and his true face would be what is considered conventionally attractive on Yolen at the time. He’d use Lightweaving to keep changing his face, because he’s incredibly conscious about his appearance.

Or I could take Devotion itself, cos I have ideas for emotion/love-based magic

Just so you know, devotion is currently on Irara Prime, a custom world with Ruin. I've said she's trying to keep the cosmere safe from Ruin.

Yeah, most of the shards are currently wrapped up. If you really want to deal with Virtuosity's mess (I just blew the shard's guts up across the cosmos) and deal with so much writing involved, you're welcome to it! Alph is not on a planet! He's just barely a shard, made an enmy of the whole cosmere and currently scheming.

Would it be possible for my PC to be created by Invention as a contingency weapon or something? Something like Odium wants to use Dalinar or Trell wants to use Telsin?

Or maybe as a potential Dawnshard holder, or maybe just to act as a Herald sort of figure to the future population of the planet

Invention does not want to create people on his planet.

I hid the Dawnshards around the Cosmere. No one knows where they are.
