Will Brandon answer any questions you ask if you get a book personalized from his website? I want to order the Mistborn hard covers and I was thinking about getting them personalized and asking a few questions.

He has done it for me twice on the two orders I placed. Doesn't necessarily mean he'll continue to do that, his prerogative, but he's usually good to us needy fans!

I don't know if he'll answer "any question", and the answer may be "RAFO"... I asked one question and the answer was "No, sorry."

From what I've seen, he'll typically answer questions that A) don't give away too much B) Allow him to be vague but intriguing C) ask about a specific person/place/thing. I think I remember him saying once that he doesn't like to answer the really general questions.

I'm glad that he seems to answer questions in personalized books: I just ordered Warbreaker today and asked a question that may help lead us to who the Worldhopper is on Nalthis, assuming my theory is correct. Depending upon his potential answer, I may publish my theory on the 17th Shard!

Publish your theory anyway! Then when the answer comes it could prove you right, tear  you down, or just provide ambiguous fun fodder for the debates :)

Hahaha. I should, but I want to make sure it's well researched; currently I don't have a copy of Warbreaker (I used a library book to read it back in September), and given my personality, I need to document my reasoning by quoting the source, etc. Maybe, while I'm waiting for my copy from Brandon, I'll get one of the library copies again...

As others stated ITT, you may get an RAFO or a short answer.

I ordered a copy of AoL and asked something about the Southern Scadralans, and received an adequate answer. Be careful with what you wish to ask as the field given for personalized questions in your book order is somewhat small.

Did you post about that? I don't recall it, and I'm fairly interested!

One thing to note: Brandon won't answer vague "tell me something new about the Cosmere" questions anymore, since he used to get a lot of them. The two times that I've gotten books personalized by Brandon, once through the online store, once in person, I asked if he could tell me anything about Renarin (big surprise) and he was able to give me some cool tidbits both times! Try to ask for something specific, or about a certain topic, and you're more likely to get a response!

I'd love to get a personalized book   How do I proceed and must the question be related to the book I order? I already own SA, but there are still Brandon's books I haven't read yet... Of course, I would rather ask a question about SA... How specific must the question be if I am to have any hopes he'll answer?

The question doesn't have to be about the book in question (I generally do that but IIRC Feather asked about Renarin in her TES for example)

How specific is a hard question to answer, but I would err on the side of more specific.  I've gotten two books, the first I asked whether the magic fish of the Purelake had symbiotic spren bonds and the second I asked what abilities a Cognitive shadow would have on Roshar.  The first got a definitive yes, while the second got a vague "they can have to many effects to say".
