Aethers on Taldain

Is sand on Taldain related in any way to Aethers, since it also needs water and can be wieved as spores?

We do not yet have this answer. It is beleived (but not yet confirmed) that White Sand is what was being referenced in Tress (discussed here) CH 23:

She’s right to ask, Ann, Fort said, holding up his sign. There are, after all, thirteen kinds of spores.

“No there ain’t,” Ann said. “Don’t you be spreading that lie.”

It’s not a lie, he wrote. It’s a legend. Different thing entirely.

“Nonsense is the proper term,” Ann said. “People can’t even make up their minds on what color ‘bone spores’ are supposed to be. White or black? Or both? Listen, Tress. There are twelve kinds of spores.”

However, we also know that White Sand is not a "spore," and is actually powered by micro-flora growing on the sand. The Lichen absorbs investiture, and when a (potentially - also unconfirmed) Luhel Bond is formed, it trades water for control of the investiture on the Sand. Discussed in the White Sand Ars Arcanum. For now, the only known connection is that they seem to use the same type of Bond.

Some have hypothesized that Autonomy (The God of Taldain) based white sand off Aethers, but it's not been confirmed. Beyond that, Treamayne has covered everything.
