“What have you been doing, Pana. You haven’t picked up anything like that?”

She grinned. "Unfortunately. I've been too busy keeping younger siblings out of trouble."

Isadore took a dramatic bow from the bottom of the skyscraper.

She rolled her eyes.

Pana applauded.

She followed.

“My way is better,” Isadore informed them, turning to survey the strangely empty city. Her eyes narrowed at some shadows.

“That wasn’t superpowers. That was technology. Though I do have my fair bit of ‘superpowers’.”

An enormous mutant spider burst from the shadows and injected Aaron with paralyzing venom.

Thanks 😁

Isadore raised both hands. Glowing blue spheres of light the size of baseballs appeared around her like electrons. She gestured with one hand and one of them shifted into a spike that buried itself in the spider’s head.

She turned to Aaron. One of the spheres drifted toward him and vanished into the bite, healing the venom.

*wonders why the venom needs to be healed*

The spider hissed at her, very much not dead.

Lia chuckled.

. . . The spider's head exploded, and it fell to the ground, dead.

“There we are,” she said in an almost cheery tone, though her eyes lingered on the spider for a moment, troubled.

But then she turned and grinned at the group, and the expression was gone.
