He looked to Jac's bedroom. Who were these people? He thought of his own family. He hadn't told the full truth to Jac. His family was still alive.

They just didn't want him.

After his parents' death, he'd been tossed from relative to relative, until they eventually gave up on him. And Delmidrius gave up on them, too.

He didn't need parents. He didn't need family. He needed some money and a train ticket to nowhere. He needed some place where they would never find him.

He told himself he didn't care.

He didn't. And yet... he still stared longingly at the portrait, wanting that.

The couch was a decent leather couch, situated in the corner of the room. In a stroke of luck, it already had some blankets folded on top of it.

Delmidrius grabbed a blanket and curled up on the couch, still thinking about family.

It didn't take long for him to fall asleep.
