How much time has past in world from Way of kings-Wind and Truth. If I remember correctly a Roshar year is long then a earth year. It's closer to 500 day then ours right?  How would that work with other planets in the Cosmar.  I don't believe thier years are longer or I guess I should say I am not sure.  I know at the end of the book Shallan is told that Roshar is in a time bubble and by the time they are out of it 80 or so years will have past but could that be closer to 100 years for the other planets.  I am not as great as alot of other people on this forum in articulating myself so I apologize if this doesn't read well. But Thank you for looking at it would love to know peoples thoughts and opinions

BLUF: Assassination of Gavilar was 1167r, The Night of Sorrow was 1175r - so Arc 1 spans 8 Rosharan Years.

Roshar Characteristics and Calandar: 1 Roshar Year is roughly 1.1 Cosmere Standard and comprised of 10 Rosharan Months (10 weeks), 100 Rosharan weeks (five days), for a total of 500 Rosharan days (20 Rosharan Hours).

Thaidakar told Shallan that he estimates about 80 Scadrian Years will have passed during the tim dilation in which approximately 10 Rosharan years pass. The two scales are local to each of their timeframes.

No worries, nobody here is perfect. If you want to improve - I use Wiktionary for spelling help (I keep it open in a second browser tab). Also, simply paying attention to structure (separate topics into their own paragraphs, punctuation and spelling, etc.) will take care of most misunderstandings before they can happen.

Thank you @Treamayneill be 40 in April and still can't  spell. If I didn't have Microsoft word at work I would be lost. Do you think Ghostbloods 3 books will take place in the 80s . I'm sure it's been brought up already.  I was getting into scifi books and read the foundation books along with 5 of the Exspans and also To Sleep in a sea of stars . Loved the last one liked the Exspans but my true love is epic Fantasys do  you think Ghostbloodes will be in the modern day or is that the 80s style cyberpunk books Brandon had talked about in the past. I live the way Brandon writes but I am nervous about leaving the epic fansty. But also would love to see a space epic. Haha I'm all over the place

I have a decade on you and I'm dyslexic; so, whether I know how to spell something or not, I have to go slow, reread, and fix on multiple passes to get things coherent (which is also why you may notice 80+% of my posts are edited, with the reason labelled as SPAG (spelling and grammar)). It just takes effort and the will to try.

As Dalinar said (paraphrased) - the most important step is the next step. If you accept the failure the journey has ended and that failure becomes your destination.

Modern day for us? No. Cyberpunk is something different as well (a potential book between Era 3 and 4, much like Alloy of Law was supposed to be a stand-alone between Era 1 and 2 (when the Canon Era 3 was planned as Era 2).

The original plan was Fantasy - Urban Fantasy - Space Opera for the three Scadrial Eras.

Era three has been called many things, but what it comes down to is that it's planned for the start of the Computer age for Scadrial.

Questioner

Any more Mistborn stories in the works?

Brandon Sanderson

Yes. For those who aren't aware, when I pitched the Mistborn series to my editor originally, way back when, I pitched it as a trilogy of trilogies—a past-present-future—where I would do an epic fantasy trilogy and then I would jump forward hundreds of years and explore what happens with the magic in a modern-day technology level setting, and then I would jump forward hundreds more years and allow the magic to then become the primary means by which FTL—faster-than-light space travel—is able to happen. And so, the three metallurgic magic systems actually have FTL built into them. And so there will be a space-opera series set in the future, because I was able to plan all this stuff out finally knowing what I would be publishing. One thing that I ran into doing that was, when I delved into The Way of Kings and The Stormlight Archive, I realized that I wasn't going to be able to get to that second Mistborn trilogy any time soon, so I didn't want to have two big epics going on at the same time—I wanted, you know, one epic, and then other things—and so what I did is I said, well I'm going to try writing a short story in the Mistborn world, and this will be something exciting for people that, you know-- I kind of sort of do some of these things to keep Mistborn going.

Questioner (paraphrased)

When do you expect to finish Shadows of Self?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

It was on the schedule for this fall to finish, but the third Stormlight book has pushed that aside, so it'll probably be the next book after that.  Tom Doherty didn't want to have a four-year gap twice in a row, and I don't want to let it go so far. It's better to establish that I'll be doing Stormlight regularly before deviating. When I pitched Mistborn to my editor, I pitched a series going to modern times to space opera in the same universe. There will be another trilogy of thick books at 1980s technology, I pitched to my editor as "Tom Clancy Allomancy" and we will eventually get to the space opera, which will be allomancers in space.

What are your plans for the third Mistborn trilogy?

Brandon Sanderson

1980s level technology... little bit of a, "how nerd culture works" in Mistborn world, on Scadrial. Lots of fun stuff. Allomancer taskforces and SWAT teams.

I know the Fourth Mistborn Era is to be sci-fi and FTL... but would we get some cyberpunk Scadrial at all? Because from what I gather it sounds like only space faring and travelling to other worlds.

Brandon Sanderson

I've toyed with a cyberpunk era Mistborn. It will depend on how quickly I move getting through the series.

Will we see Scadrial in cyberpunk era?

Brandon Sanderson

I have plans for Scadrial cyberpunk but the problem is I don't know if I'll have a long enough lifespan to write all these books. So I'm trying to avoid adding any more books to the Cosmere outline until I get a little further along I'm gonna have to write; consider that Oathbringer turned out to be a quarter longer than Words of Radiance. I really need to be sure I'm keeping going and trying to keep from expanding too big. Definitely the 1980s one, some cyberpunk themes will bleed into it cause that's when cyberpunk started.

But maybe I'll see the new Blade Runner and I'll have to write one, so...

Hope that helps
