FarHorizon Posted January 5, 2025 Posted January 5, 2025 So at the end of WaT Adolin thinks about the number of additional forgotten deadeye spren that Maya managed to gather in Shadesmar/the number of possible additional Unoathed Knights. That's also the same number of spirits that Yumi calls in her first rock stacking performance, and later on it's the same number of Nightmare Painters who show up for Nikaro at the end of that book. In my mind there are two possibilities here: 1. This is the possible start of something significant in terms of cosmere numerology with 37 somehow having a kind of attachment to the idea of people showing up to help/allies. 2. When asked to pick a random number from 1-100, a statistically significant number of people pick 37 since it "feels" the most random. Brandon happened to pick it once in Yumi and the Nightmare Painter and edited the number of spirits Yumi called/the number of Painters who helped Nikaro to thematically match, and it's just a coincidence that he's picked 37 again. Any ideas on where this might go? I haven't really seen any other references to the 37 anywhere else, unless I'm severely missing something. 4
Ripheus23 Posted January 5, 2025 Posted January 5, 2025 There might be a clue somewhere in the Wikipedia entry on the number. They mention an incidental connection to the Star of David pattern, as well as that it's "reversible" in that 73 is also prime or something.

Otherwise, I think it might just be coincidence.
Through the Living Wrath he/him Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 It also shows up in the beginning of the Lost Metal… 37 soldiers or smt
SPECTRE120 Posted January 7, 2025 Posted January 7, 2025 It could be the number of Valor. People showing up to help at the last minute seems like it would match the intent.
Nitpicking Posted January 8, 2025 Posted January 8, 2025 Randomly today, this Veritasium video came up in my feed. 1
