At the end of Oathbringer (the book) Oathbringer (the sword) is displayed in Dalinar's room at Urithuru. In RoW the sword isn't mentioned, so when the blade appear in Gavinor's hands during the contest of champion I  thought it was stolen during the occupation of the tower. But then I read this line. WaT ch 130:

Quote

Oathbringer, the Blade Dalinar had thought secure in his rooms.

The blade was probably secure when Dalinar enter the spiritual realm. So how did Gavinor end up with it ?

We don't know the specifics, but presumably a human loyal to Taravangian in the tower stole it while Dalinar was in the Spiritual Realm. On WaT page 1210 he said said:

Quote

"It took some work while you were gone, to have it brought here, terribly inconvenient that my best tools cannot enter the tower."

You know, it feels like oathbringer was the wrong sword to use. Odium had control of Sunraiser, which was Elhokars blade. It feels like that would have been more appropriate.

Both Sunraiser and Firestorm would have been much better options, I think.
